charding370
My nearside headlamp washer cover has just disappeared. Is this common on the MK V as I gather it was on the MK IV. Could it be something to do with the freezing weather? Although I haven't ever used them it was in an airport car park the day before and maybe they did..... Believe it or not VW do not offer a spare part ready painted on their ordering system until Jan 07.

charding370
That occurred to me as I left it parked at a Garden Centre for 10 mins and when I came out it was gone. Not a lot of use to anyone.

B15ETJ
Think you'll find it's come off itself mine came off after 2 days and has come off another 4 times since it seems to be more of a problem with the mkv as the covers are flush with the bumper and if the units even slightly off line behind the bumper the cover will pop off as it retracts.Real pain because it looks bad with a gaping hole left in the bumper and makes you frightened to use the washers at night not what you need at this time of year
charding370
I suspect the car park people used the washer when it was moved due to the freezing conditions and it didnt retract properly as it was frozen. Did you get the primed replacement and spray it as they are not releasing the painted version for DBP and Black until January?
B15ETJ
The first one was lost but luckily the other times was when i pressed the washers with the lights on by mistake and i found it on the road although it had a few scratches. Luckily the dealer has a bodyshop as well so there's no problem getting it painted .Tbh if it comes off again i'm just going to tell them to disconnect the washers altogether. charding370
Been quoted £10 for the primed part and £10 for a spray can or Smart van who visits dealer when I worked for a dealership could be £40 minimum just to get the gun loaded with the paint. Hence am waiting to get a price for the painted version due out in Jan. Can't believe VW dont sell these at the moment. Bummer is Ive never even used the things.
