Does anyone know what these are like?

MPG wise - Are they any good around town, I imagine they are reasonable once cruising at 80mph. What sort of figures do you get?

How does the engine cope? Is it slow a sluggish or is it livable?

Finally, what things go wrong with the S class. I was looking at a 51 plate with 50k.

I am lead to believe they are one of the best cars in the world for pure comfort which I love. I am not overly bothered about performance, I'd like it to be able to cruise at 120mph in relative silence.

I drive one a fair bit, my old man has one, got to say it is an awesome motorway crusier, very relaxed drive and you get out feeling fine, even after 6 or so hours driving.

His is showing 34mpg after 40k miles I think it is, but could have the mileage wrong.

What sort of price is the 51 plate??

This is his, he is meant to be swapping it in Feb but thinks he may keep it another year he likes it so much.

Grey leather and black paint wouldn't be my choice, but they are cracking machines.

It does look black at times but it is actually navy paint. I actually really like the light interiors in the S-class, A8 and 7 series, think it suits them, makes them feel massive inside.

Either way, I must say it is immaculate for a car which is clearly used as a daily driver and clocks up high mileage.
