ahaydock
Just wondered what you guys use to apply tyre shine? I have got some Turtle Wax Extreme (I think, in a bright green bottle) gel I am currently using, then Santa boughts me some Megs to us. Currently I use a soft round pad I found in Halfrauds but just wondered if there was anything better that could be recommended?
alexc
THESE are ideal for that very job, shaped to suit the angle of the tyre.
ahaydock
Thanks, that looks much better than what I am currently using. I also see a tyre scrubber on the same page - would this be used prior to the dressing? I assume so. If so are they any good?

[/ QUOTE ] The tyre scrubber is to clean the tyre, I use it whilst shampooing the car. You get better results from your tyre dressing if the tyre itself has been cleaned properly beforehand. ahaydock
Thanks - may have to invest in both. Having a think about my whole cleaning kit at the moment though.
steelwind101
If your tyres are super dirty then you might want to try some APC on them and then scrub. You can shoot some APC in the arches aswell!!
ahaydock
Thanks, but what is APC (sorry for being thick)? Are you referring to Megs All Purpose Cleaner?
alexc
[ QUOTE ] Thanks, but what is APC (sorry for being thick)? Are you referring to Megs All Purpose Cleaner? [/ QUOTE ] APC stands for All Purpose Cleaner, the Meguiars one is a popular choice as it comes in a gallon (US) bottle so lasts for a while. Si_GTi
[ QUOTE ] Just wondered what you guys use to apply tyre shine? [/ QUOTE ] I use Megs application pads, they're probably quite similar to the pads you have been using from Halfords to be honest, a soft foam pad? [/ QUOTE ] No, the pad I use is round. I just happened to find one in the garage and used and thought it was OK, but over the last week or so my eyes have really been opened to car cleaning so I am having a rethink. fresco1
I love a shiny tyre! I use Megs High Gloss stuff, straight from the bottle onto a cotton cloth, then wipe it around. I tried various applicator pads but didn't really get anything better than using Megs on cotton. I use latex gloves when applying, saves the hands / fingers getting mucked up. I once heard that an old, empty Kiwi shoe-shine applicator can be used with various shine products. Tried this for a while, but again ended up with a cotton rag. ahaydock
Thanks, I also use gloves at the mo, but am very tempted by the dedicated tool as pointed out earlier in the thread.
