New BMWs are so spec and colour sensitive aren't they? blush.gif

Liking this though....

Doesn't it look good in silver, dechromed and with black wheels? blush.gif

Who else makes suitable black wheels for a 5?

Also, can someone tell me about DMS?

- post map outputs

- cost

- effect on warranty would be great smile.gif

Just curious, you do understand 169144-ok.gif

I like the ACS type IV wheels, Saw them on a black one too, looked very dark!! smile.gif

DMS 344bhp and 680nm of torque.

0-60mph in 5.5 seconds and gets to 100mph in around 13.5 seconds.

You need to speak to Mike Cooper about cost but it is £750 before haggling! wink.gif

DMS roll the ecu flash counter back so when they scan it it looks as though nothing has changed, the ECU would have to be sent back to Bosch to see it.

He has never had warranty work refused on a car he has chipped.

In the price you pay it also includes an insurance policy to cover anything that BMW refuse to do because of a reamap, he has yet to of used that though.

Warranty work is the easiest form of work for dealers, they get the car, do the work and invoice BMW AG, why would they turn that work away??

A stunning package. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks Guy 169144-ok.gif

They're quite a deceptive wheel in that pic though. AC Schnitzer site shows them as very slim 5 spokes, yet the pic above (as its so dark) makes them look like fuller wheels. Any ideas on alternative dark wheels that are perhaps not so slimline? Loving the silver rim around them though....

Any idea on cost for the Schitzers?

And that's quite reasonable. I heard the M5 map was over £2k so thought this might be the same...

Exactly *lightbulb!*

For the extra second to 60 and the 4 to 100 I would have thought wink.gif

I need to stop looking at that pic though....

How do these cars age? There seems to be a choice between £46k fully specced for a new one, £38k for a 55/06 with next to no miles or £30-33k for your pic of 04/05 20-25k milers that still look good....

They loose shed loads in the first 18 months, I would look at a 55 plate for £33k or an 06 plate for £35k, and at that money you want heated seats, media pack and heads up display and the lowest mileage you can find, the saloon is around £2-3k cheaper than the touring so you should get one for that.

Are you quoting private sale figures or specific cars/deals you know of Guy??

They are certainly not from where 95% of these cars are available/sold from i.e. off BMW dealer forecourts....

Just bought a Silver Grey / Dakota Black, 535d MSport. Hope to pick it up this weekend, but they need to fit the USB/iPOD interface, so it maybe delayed to early next week.

It replaces an 03 996 Carrera 2 and I'm hoping I don't get too bored of the size/weight gain.

The DMS option looks fun.... I know SAM_D had his 335d DMS'd and said it was crazy.

£34.5k: Media Pack, visibility pack, heated electric memory seats, 19" 172M Alloys, rear boot spoiler, sun protection glass, iPod interface & maple wood-high gloss. 8.5k miles.

Can't wait now... just waiting for the guy to collect the Porker :sob:

Someone just came to see me, he has just bought a 535d sport touring with all the toys including HUD, with a new list of £49k, for £30k. 55 plate with 14k miles on it.

Also had a set of ACS Type IV split rims, 19", which looked amazing, they were included with the car, plus he got the brand new set of M-Tec alloys as spares.

That is alot of car for the money.

Still 60% of its list price which for 2yrs old aint bad......

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh sure there are worse cars, but 40% depreciation - 20k, enough for an entire A3 Sportback PD 140 - over 24 months is still big.

Fully agree though, a LOT of car for the money, and certainly an excellent second hand purchase.

Lot of car for the money, take it was private sale.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it was from a dealer, he had a 2001 530d touring, and was putting some aircon in at the guys dealership, he said 'I've got something for you.' and took him to see the 535d, gave him £10k for his 530d e39 and another £20k on top for the 535d.

He could get £2k for those ACS Type IV's tomorrow, meaning he got a nice M-Sport for £28k.

I offered him a grand for the wheels!! grin.gif

Yeah but who wants an A3 Sportback, cant compare with a 5 know what you mean you could buy a whole car for the loss but you could buy a 5 for what you loose on some cars.

The buyer should be getting big discount on the car so 20k is probably more like 14-15k.

depreciation wise its probably 25% yr1, 15% yr2 & 10% yr3.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well no, seems that the 5 costs a hell of a lot more than the sportback. Its all comparitive, a lower income family driving round in a corsa etc would probably love an A3 Sportback.

That is a good deal from dealer maybe it had been sitting for a while, his original car would find a buyer quick also.
