joffan
I popped into the local stealers yesterday to enquire how much i would get for my GTI if I wanted to trade in for a ED 30 or straight cash buy. I have a 55 plate,5dr,Tornado Red,cloth interior,12,000 miles,DVD Sat Nav, 6 CD changer,18"Monzas and Xenons. Anyway they offered me £15,000 i nearly spat my coffee out!! laughed in the salesmans face and walked out!
RedRobin
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but a car as new as yours is probably at it's worst depreciation level. The dealer would probably expect to sell it for about £20K I reckon (guessing).

rs32
agreed Robin - I'd expect an "insulting" offer on the R32 if I were to attempt a trade-in at 1yo - but I bought the car to keep. joffangti - what did you expect in terms of a trade-in offer ? joffan
To be honest I don't know, something better than that! Salesman told me that I wouldn't get much more for a private sale,he did tell me he'd do a good deal on an ED 30. 3 salesmen swarmed over the car, must have been thinking about getting a cheap GTI for themselves or a friend?! Snoopy
http://vauxhall.co.uk Goto the owners tab at the top a drop down menu will come up. Then click on value my car. This will give you a part ex value. You would at the present time get more than 15K for a private sale.

Tarmac_Terrorist
Assuming your car is in top condition, the minimum I would expect as a part ex number is £16k. With your spec, I would want at least £16.5k. Thieves!
joffan
I'd want 19k for a private sale car is immaculate! I used the valuer on the Vauxhall site and it came back with 16.5k. thieves is right!!
Shadowman
Sounds like it could be "smoke and mirrors" to me. If they said they would do you a deal on an ED30 then they probably just dropped your trade-in figure accordingly. I would advise to go somewhere else and then compare the 2 on a "total cost to change" basis.
chriswastle
Totally agree mine is a similar spec to yours and i was offered £17k against a 6 month old R32 at xmas. How much profit do these guys want? most VW garages are retailing this type of vehicle at 20K
