Tizzy
Arrived home to find the dreaded N.I.P. on the doormat. Last Thursday going through the centre of Hull (A63) towards Hedon for a business meting, was "allegedly" caught on candid scamera doing 49 in a 40. It's a fair cop really - unless anyone has any good ideas on how to get off - don't think there were any speed camera signs there, but then again there may be! Not that upset either as the three point I have already are over three years old in April, so I'll only have to declare three (I think). The £60 to the treasury galls as always though. However, what was interesting is that I saw the Scamera van, and it was on the other side of the dual-carriageway, facing the traffic in the opposite direction. Now this is a new one on me, I didn't realise that they could cover the opposite side of the road as well, i.e. they'd have taken a pic. of the back of my car - but it seems they can now!!!! Brisel
Comiserations, Tizzy! I may have been speeding on the A46 by the Stoneleigh turning in Warks last Saturday 3 lane carrigeway, empty. Came around the corner & there on the bridge was a talivan Perfect place for a van - downhill stretch with a slight left hand bend and trees growing out over the carrigeway. If I was breaking the law, then fair enough. There is a permanent camera sign 1/2 mile before and I have seen them parked there in the past. Sneaky ****ers Dreading the footsteps of the postman.... [/ QUOTE ] Now if they took the shot from that side of the road you have a case. Try and confirm just where they were and if they were over there then you need to contact www.motoringlawyers.co.uk they will get you off garanteed. They charged me £2000 for a much worse offence and got me off a ban NO points and £1921.00 back, so cost Sweet F**k all. PS) DONT send/sign anything yet. Chris_B
[ QUOTE ] Accident blackspot ? - I dont think so. [/ QUOTE ] They were sitting on the A16 this morning, at the end of a nice long straight with great visibility and no concealed entrances - in other words a perfectly safe place to overtake lorries doing 40 mph, but of course nobody would becaus eof the presence of the van of doom. Thanks guys, not only for sitting on a really safe stretch of road, but for also causing frustration among drivers that later manifested itself in some stupid and dangerous overtaking on blind corners and hills just down the road from where you were sitting... [/ QUOTE ] Hmm. Interesting. Does anyone know if there is a minimum distance of clear visibility? In this case it was about 200 yards. I'll fight the ticket if there was a breach of Home Office guidelines/rules etc. There seems to be a spate of TSNers getting busted at the moment, despite their impeccable driving Edit - Oops! Just seen this
