coalmanshoss
Anybody know anything about the new S-line and its ability to perform in snow. We have had 2" of snow on two separate occasions and both times it got stuck on a 20% incline. One the last occasion it stopped and then proceeded to go backwards for about 50 feet (Scary). I also managed to get it stuck on grass (not mud) and had to use our A4 to pull it out!! Audi suggest 18" alloys and Dunlop Grandtrek WTM2 235-60-R18 tyres but at £3000 its too expensive and will it be any better? What did Top gear use when they were racing it with the Volvo XC90? Oli
The trouble with the 20" wheels is they have 275/45ZR20 tyres - Goodyear F1's on the one I delivered yesterday, and these are sports tyres - which are the worst performers in snow or mud!! Putting the Grand trek tyres on it will make a mssaive difference, but wether it could be then classed as a proper 4WD is a different matter
gizze
Agreed it is the tyres. I was following an M3 up the mountain to Saint Cergue, just north of Geneva, and it was doing silly speeds in the snow and ice, my cousin was in his merc 4matic and said it was all because of the winter tyres. Very impressed.
coalmanshoss
I have managed to find some 18" alloys ar £275 each with General Grabbers 255/55/18 at £440 for 4 so improving on Audi price of £3000. Anybody know any cheaper alloys?
