Retrofit MKIV armrest

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't seem to find it iamwithstupid.gif

Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread which details how to retrofit an armrest?

My mum's golf is an import with black cloth and contrasting blue seats. Any ideas where I'd be able to get a matching armrest from? I'm thinking just a solid black one from fleabay.

Any help much appreciated 169144-ok.gif

I fitted one to my R32 last year, its fairly straight forward. Just remove the plastic panel that covers handbrake/ashtray area - this is done by removing two screws under the ashtray (bit awkward if there is a rear cup holder fitted as this obscures them a bit), remove two screws on the front sides of the panel (one either side below where the panel meets the gearstick area).

Once its removed you screw the metal bracket (comes with armrest) to the chassis, there should be holes already there - its obvious where it goes. There were screws already in the holes in my car, took them out, placed bracket in place and reused the screws.

Once thats secure replace the panel - you have to remove the little tray thats behind the handbrake first - this is where the bracket fits through. Once its all back in place you just slide the armrest assembly over the bracket, it should fit nicely in place. There is a hole in the side of the armrest (near side) where you place a large screw that holds the armrest to the bracket. Hope this helps! 169144-ok.gif

I had mine off ebay, its was brand new, but not genuine. I have seen genuine armrests fitted and to be honest my doesn't look any different. Mine was from the UK though, not sure i'd chance it from China. I had a choice of lid covers to - black or cream cloth, or black or cream leather (leather look). They actually sent the wrong lid first, I asked for a black leather and got cloth, cloth was not the best quality, but the leather-look lid is fine. I think it was around £50 inc. P&P.
