winrya
Hidden as far down the car park as possible (as i always do) today i was joined by another fine car. Nice to see 2 together, nice to see a fellow GTI owner trying to keep the dinks at bay. Anyone on here??? And another fine looking car which i would have bought if there were better petrol options
rozzerfodder
Nice pics Ryan, starts the whole 17's V 18's debate again, clearly the side by side comparisons shows the car sits much better on the bigger rims. May you remain dink free !!!!
Simonl
It's amazing how much difference that extra inch makes. I think the darker inlays on the 18"s definately help too. Lovin' the black too
winrya
i have to say it made a big difference, as you can see in the pics. Looking at the top pic it looks like a couple of inches between them.
Shadowman
The Monza II's are a great wheel IMO. I think they look bigger than they are... I believe the ED30 wheels are also 18" but they don't seem to fill the wheel arches to the same extent - they look a bit small to me! Must be just an optical illusion... For me the Monza design (17" or 18") is so much a part of the MkV GTI branding and identity, I can't believe they changed the design completely for the ED30. I would have thought any student of brand values and awareness would have been having a fit at that decision... Just my opinion - of course anyone is free to put whatever wheels they want on their GTI...
Vagabond
Typical eh? you go out of your way to find a quiet spot and someone parks next to you Nice cars though

Snoopy
Just goes to show how common the GTI is i guess. My brother works for an Alfa dealer so i would not own a modern alfa anything after around 96 is not well built imho. The 164 was imo the last well build alfa. winrya
[ QUOTE ] Just goes to show how common the GTI is i guess. [/ QUOTE ] Not sure i'd go that far, been a while since i last saw one. I owned a 147 for 2 years and at the time i was happy with it in every sense. It had a couple of niggles done under warranty but was a lovely car. On reflection i can feel the quality difference between the italian and german. At 1st i couldnt see it, but its the little things over time i've been picking up on, its so well thought out, silent suspension, no rattles etc. Also the gaps on every panel are smack on- the alfa wasnt and many cars i look at seem to have issues. I always said i would go back to alfa one day, now i'm not sure??? They aren't as bad as they say, i'm positive alfa's, and fiat's for that matter are better made than their french competitors. Wish i could have a brera with the 2.0tfsi engine on board, actually a gti in a brera dress
fresco1
I like your parking, I would also have edged slightly onto the red-brick to get those extra last inches away from the bay next to me ... Nice car. Also, have to admit I am being 'drawn' to Alfa's at the moment, we're hunting around for a replacement to the Land Rover and as the 2 ankle-biters are getting a little older now (5 and 2) we're tempted by something like the Alfa GT. Just looks fantastic, and the deals through The Times are cracking. But we may go Allroad ... Anyway, nice photo - no-one has owned up to the Grey GTI then?! Tarmac_Terrorist
I always choose end spots like that and park on the edge if I can. Whether I reverse in or go in forwards to a space depends on the design / size of the car I have to park next to. I then always try and position my car so that if the owner is careless with their drivers door, it will hit my wing mirror rather than ding the bodywork. I sometimes think I'm going mad but I try my hardest to look after my car the best I can
RDC
Looks like the option decision here was either Monza II's or Xenons.

The 17"s are just a straight forward painted alloy, I'm always getting comments about my wheels...

Incitatus
I use the Shrewsbury dealer, mainly on the basis that I tend to go shopping in Shrewsbury more than Telford, even though I work in Telford. I think they've been pretty good. I know the one chap in service from when he used to work at a different store so it's quite good to have a previous contact. Are you going to the track day they're laying on at Oulton Park tomorrow? Should be fun!
AndyWoodall
Lovely GTI Ryan, black, 18's, fine choice. I think you may work with a friend of mine, drives a Maroon old shape SLK, has the roof down in winter and generally looks amusing pottering around in what I would describe as being a middle aged house wifes car. Hes mentioned before that someone he worked with had a GTI, but anytime I've been to your store I've not seen it about. Give me a flash if you spot me in my Lupo GTI, I'm often around Telford and Shrewsbury.
