drpellypo
Just wondered. I pay about 400 per month for the Passat, but it's on a new solutions plan, so I get everything, tax, tyres, servicing included, and I get the insurance free because of a deal I secured. So that's 400 quid a month, but with no additional motoring costs except diesel. But I was wondering whether people have got better cars for less money per month? Am I wasting away my cash? Jack_is_Back
£372 per month in repayments alone for my GTI. No matter how much I enjoy my cars I still don't like adding up the running costs.
JamesB
Well, about £40 in insurance, virtually nothing on petrol these days, and the same as everyone else for road tax. A change from the RS6, which was about £150 in insurance and more than that on petrol per month. And then there was the cost of the depreciation... bells0
Don't really want to think about it tbh. Put it this way, i think i may be chopping my £550 a month allowance soon and going back to having a co. car. Was ok when i had the 350Z as knew it was the cheaper option, don't think it is with the cab.
RedRobin
Isn't bothering to work out your car's monthly cost, especially if you factor in everything such as depreciation, a quick way to get depressed? Surely it's best just to know that the costs, whatever they are, aren't over compromising the rest of your needs, and then just enjoy your car. [/ QUOTE ] Totally agree, if I worked out the cost of the PCP, insurance, petrol and depreciation on the TT I'd probably jump off a high building!! Its way more than the house costs me... But, I love driving it, and you can't take it with you...

fizzbitt
Unless im on major amounts of monies i cant see the logic of getting a new or new'ish car on finance. The thought of all that interest is enough to put me off. There are plenty of cars out there that are capable of putting a smile on your face for a lot less monies. Is the depreciation and cost of interest really worth having the latest plate?
Wallachie
I have no idea, and I don't want to work it out either or I might sell the fecker.... Thankfully work pays my fuel bill because I'm only getting 16mpg on average.
Mook
No finance on my toys - just £300+ on petrol...
drpellypo
I got a deal through work where I got everything thrown in on PCP for about £300 a month less than I could have gotten it myself (another dealer I tried were looking at £650pm and wouldn't insure me because I was 22.) No worry of depreciation because in two years I can either roll on the contract and get a new one, or give it back. My P reg Passat cost 5k, then another 3k in repair bills, and I sold it for £1,600, so in theory ended up costing me nearly as much as my 22k brand new car! Hang on, am I justifying here? I think I am.

He tried very hard to persuade me to get a TDI instead of a GTI by all this money talk. Which reminds me, I better go down the garden and take him a cup of coffee. My car only costs me on tyres, brakes, servicing, depreciation, insurance, tax and repairs. I still don't want to add that little lot up though..... I don't have a garden shed, I wonder where my Captain Sensible is hiding.....

Soapsuds
Calculated this just the other day..... overall, by the time i take my Car Allowance, a bit of profit made on the mileage payments, the tax relief from the mileage payments and then pay for the car, servicing and tax / ins, it comes out somewhere in the region of £250 per month..... Obviously, that is averaged over the 12 month year - actually monthly costs are higher. E.g. tax relief is payed May time(ish) and is usually circa £1k
330dcoupe
I pay £240 pm to bank and £75 a month for insurance. All other running costs have come down because I'm not working at the moment due to serious illness. (No it wasn't a mental illness, before you ask ) but once I get back to working life - all immediate costs come down to how many miles i'll be doing (tyre wear, servicing intervals..etc)
lottiefox
Coincidentally I've just completed my remortgage questionnaire thingy as my fixed rate is ending and my mortgage man came out in a sweat when he heard how much my PCP was a month!
