chriswastle
I retro fitted the OEM sat nav into my mkV Golf gti about 8 months ago and have had no problems with the system what so ever.... until now This last week i didnt use the car for 4 days and i went to start it on Friday morning to find the battery dead? Jump started the car and drove to it to my local stealers who concluded that there was current draw from the sat nav even when the car was switched off. ( not covered by warranty blah blah..) Does anyone know if it is due to the fact that the my car needs to be programmed to accept the install of the sat nav onto the Can Bus? The functionality of the system is fine . Any comments would be appreciated

[/ QUOTE ] You could have one of more of these three problems: 1) the coding of your sat nav is incorrect so it's not recognising the CAN bus signals. 2) the CAN gateway could be incorrectly coded so the signals aren't getting to your sat nav. 3) the wiring adapter you used could be incorrectly wired (this has happened in MANY cases) - often this results in the amplifier being left switched on and flattening the battery. Check all of these.
