Yahoo
What is the general consensus with regards to the standard m-sport upholstery? I really like it, but am not sure whether I would be commiting resale suicide speccing a 335i with cloth/alcantara. Aside from the resale/depreciation issue, in speccing the m-sport pack, part of the cost of the pack is to cover this upholstery upgrade. Therefore, if I spec leather and m-sport I would be paying full wack for the leather plus the premium for the alcantara/cloth interior which I would not be recieving. The fact that I actually like alcantara (in a CSL stylee!) and that I don't like to thought of paying twice for an upholstery upgrade is swaying me towards not bothering with leather. Any comments? pile
Whats the rest of your spec ? Personally if its a basic car then i think you will get away with it as i would buy a used 335i if the money was right even though it had little spec but if you have Nav etc..... then i would be wanting leather. Maxyboy
i'm not sure about what you would lose when coming to selling but my dad has that in his 320si and i love it, very grippy and far nicer than the leather in my opinion, i cant justify the cost of leather considering how many down sides it has..... if only vw done that interior i would be happy.. Yahoo
[ QUOTE ] Whats the rest of your spec ? [/ QUOTE ] It is: 335i M-sport Saloon Hifi Logic 7 speaker system USB audio interface Bi xenon headlights Passenger and driver lumbar support Front sliding arm rest Through load system I want to keep the car as close to £30 000 as possible. Coast2coast will do this spec for £31 500. A lot of car for the money imo.
gizze
I prefer that interior myself, but I have to agree with Scott, I would want to spec the car higher and would have to have leather, but with the spec you have I would say don't worry. Irnbrukid
Just get what you feel is best for you, the alcantara is really nice and there will always be people who prefer it leather. Always spec a car for your needs not the next owner.

Yahoo
[ QUOTE ] i would add the phone Yahoo, it will pay 4 itself in the end [/ QUOTE ] Maybe . . . but I could go on and on with the extra's. The only addition to the above spec will be a nice set of 19" CSL replicas with non-runflats. Will sell the 18" m-sport wheels to cover the cost. Not sure what they'll fetch, but expect them to cover at least 50% of the purchase price of the 19" wheels and tyres. I just need to finalise the colour. I really like blue, but have a laser blue MkV GTI at the moment. Black is pure stealth, but you lose the effect of the part black rear valance with the m-sport pack. Silver looks good on the 3 series and works well with the m-sport pack. Decisions, decisions

[/ QUOTE ] thats hit the nail on the head, get what you want,i prefer my alcantara, and there will be just as many people who like that instead of leather, when buying pre owned people are having the leather because its available, not always because they realy want it,if you get my point. Yahoo
Tinka - how durable is the alcantara? Does it clean up OK after spillages? I will frequently have two kids in the back. I realise that it isn't going to be as easy to clean as leather, but with some scotch guard protection it should be OK, shouldn't it?
gizze
That is the only problem with it, it isn't that tough, it does start to show wear, my csl has areas where it was showing wear and that only had 17k miles on it. If you have kiddies leather is far better.
tinka
in a passat i had which was leather/alcantara it was ok,ive only had the m sport a few months,as gizze said leather cleans up ok,but it does also need treating now and then, and can have a tendancy to crease. the a3 was cloth/leather,and of all 3 the m sport interior is by far the most comfortable, ive not had any experience of scoth gaurd so im not sure. [/ QUOTE ] I'm around to that way of thinking - means that I'll need to save for another couple of months though . My above question 'What's the difference?' was in reference to the difference between nappa and dakota - does anyone know?
gizze
nappa is a soft oil soaked pull up leather, so soft and stretchy, where as dakota is just regular leather, so not as soft and stretchy. The Nappa exclusive is nice, but no way is it worth £1000 more than regular leather, and you will never see that back.
