AudiPartner
The car started life as 2.0 WRX UK300 limited edition, fitted from new with the Prodrive Performance Pack. The car is edition 161 of the 300. Then the moddifications began (not by myself, but by the original owner). When I acquired the car it was a 2.5 running just under 400 bhp, and just under 400 lb/ft of torque. Since owning the car I have had a full rebuild at API (£6k) and now the car is running 452bhp and 477ft/lb of torque (at 1.5 bar). The car has done approximately 2000 miles on the new engine and clutch, and around 300 miles on the new disks. I have also fitted a single din Alpine stereo and used a Forester CD pocket to fill the hole! The car also has aftermarket speakers fitted in all doors. The current spec is as follows: 2.5 USA EJ257 short motor STi 5 Heads Wiseco Forged Alloy Pistons Steel Eagle Con Rods STi Type USA crank Competition bearing set 740cc Injectors STi Manifold Kevlar Cam Belt APS Front Mount Intercooler Roger Clark Induction kit Roger Clark Headers with 3.25" Pat spec exhaust EcuTek - Mapped by Bob Rawle Exeedy Clutch (new) 6 Speed STi gearbox MD321T Turbo charger (new) AP Racing 330mm Disks with Ferrodo pads(new) Knock/Lambda Links HID Fog Lamps Prodrive Mudflaps 65k miles. The car is currently fitted with the standard WRX spoiler. However, it used to sport the original WRC spoiler off the 2001 World Rally Car (as seen in one of the below pictures). This spoiler has also been signed by both Tommi Makinen and Petter Solberg so is a real piece of memorabilia. It is not currently on the car, but it can be supplied (not fitted) for £500 on top of asking price. It is also for sale separately. The car is located in Bromley, Kent. Asking Price: £13,000 [email protected]

jwo
I like that car. Definitely a q car (well peole would think it was knocking out maybe 260bhp max - not 450bhp). Unfortunately little nippers etc. don't allow for it! I also have a scoob cap signed by Tommi too!

Only someone emailed me via ebay but I've told him its provisionally sold. He asked me to let him know if it falls through.

NickGUK
Is it actually possible for a scooby's gearbox to get to 180 MPH with the ratios before the engine redlines.....mmm not sure it would be tbh. Car looks nice tho.. How long realistically will a 2 litre engine at 450BHP actually last ?..... imo not very long, please correct me if im wrong... [/ QUOTE ] Here are the stats from my mapping when the car was running 420bhp. Now it is running 450 I'm guessing they will be slightly higher. Top Speed in 1st Gear: 37.4mph Top Speed in 2nd Gear: 57.2mph Top Speed in 3rd Gear: 77.2mph Top Speed in 4th Gear: 101.0mph Top Speed in 5th Gear: 139.9mph Top Speed in 6th Gear: 179.7mph Terminal velocity due to power: 191.7mph Oh, and it's a 2.5, not a 2 litre. Having more ponies or torques just gets you quicker to the same speed as before

AudiPartner
So tell me... My car has a top speed of around 180mph. If I took off my turbocharger and changed it for a lesser rated one, say of 300hp, if everything else on the car remained the same, surely my top speed would be less?? Surely a 450hp car would give a higher top speed than a 300hp car? But perhaps not.

If you removed all friction, the only thing that would limit top speed would be the final gear ratio and max RPM (as faster engine turns, faster the wheels will turn). Power and Torque are what over come the friction.

[/ QUOTE ] In terms of the Impreza then yes @ 300bhp it would be slower and wouldn't be limited by gearing since the drag and frontal area are probably too much for it to get anywhere near 180mph with 'just' 300bhp. With 300, my guess would be about 165mph and with the 450bhp and longer gearing you might get about 180-185mph (but you would need a long road and it would probably feel like a shuttle re-entry ). As a comparison, a C32AMG (rather good aerodynamically in terms of slipperyness) can supposedly get to 185ish with just 340 odd bhp. If de-limited then it isn't hampered by the gearing in the same way as your Impreza, plus it doesn't have a barn door wing, bluff front spoiler etc.
