hashluck
Looks like Hungary where the driving is not the best. However the toll motorways such as this are long and straight and not that busy and conditions/visibility look good. Looks like the driver simply misjudged this rather badly and drove under the back and then side of the lorry. As you say it only takes a second or two, lets be careful out there. Nelson_R32
Very sad Interesting to see they keep the road moving in those situations. In the UK that road would be closed for sure if there was a fatality! Makes you wonder if UK Police forces kept them open...would it make us better/safer drivers when we saw them? Merlot
Very sad. Most of us driving down that road would view it as safe and the ditch as 'non fatal'.

A new TT crashed in to a lorry during overtaking a Suzuki on the motorway, the incident ended in the ditch. [/ QUOTE ] Seeing as you drive on the right and overtake on the left, the photo's indicate the TT went under the left rear of the lorry, which explains why the roof was ripped off. With both vehicles going in the same direction, one might be forgiven for assuming the lorry pulled out on the TT? One of many reasons why I drive with headlights on permanently nowdays. [/ QUOTE ] i think it may well make us think a wee bit more about our driving if they kept the road open, i also think that when you have been held up in stationary traffic the first thing you tend to do when you get free of it is put the foot down however you would have alot of people ogling the scene and it may well cause more accidents....catch 22 i suppose
encee
The reason that the whole road remains closed, in the Uk, is because it is necessary to preserve evidence. In many fatalities, you find that the "scene" is not just confined to where the vehicles impacted; it can actually start, and finish, a good distance before, and beyond the site of the collision. Goes without saying that can include the full width of the road. Therefore, to make sure that "no stone goes unturned" (as it were) the whole road remains shut until necessities at the scene are concluded. I do know what you mean though; when you`re caught up in some traffic jam because of it, usually not knowing why until you`ve reached the scene, it tends to make the blood boil a bit. I assure you, though, that the last thing you want to do, is remain at a scene any longer than you have to, as it`s invariably blo*dy freezing, wet, and you`re crying out for a brew........not to mention the ear-bashing that you get from angry motorists....... lesK
I witnessed a fatal accident last year and I can say that the last thing you want is to be sat there waiting! I was kept around for 2 hours, while they tried to save the poor guy. Now I'm not saying this to moan because I wish they had saved the guy. What it did do was make me much more aware of the speed I was travelling at and of the distractions that we all take for granted! Please be careful guys I really don't want to watch another person die (which is what I did)Which is really no fun at all.

Speedywheels
Sorry, but I struggle to understand why this thread appears in a public forum. In respect for the family involved, this sort of thing should not be posted. IMO it is just voyeurism in its most disgusting form. Death on the roads happens, it is extremely tragic and we should all take care but a little respect for those who have suffered, please.
