homer42
Hi all, Some advice please. Looking to purchase my first digital music player to rip my CD collection on to, should I go down the itunes/ipod or the wmp11/mp3 player route? gizze
Ipod, not saying it is better than anything else and to be honest I don't even like itunes, but if you want accesories for you home, car etc. then you can get it all for the ipod. Mac
I have an Ipod and a 30Gb ZUNE. If you want video then I'd say a unit other than the IPOD video would be your best bet - the screen on the ZUNE is stunning. Also, if you want to use it at the gym then solid state is the way to go You're right on the accessories - absolutely tons available specific to the Ipod. bencole45
For style and accessories the iPod. For everything else there's a better product.
homer42
thank you for your quick replys. Is it possible to rip my cd collection to a media player on my computer, and then transfer it to my ipod without any DRM problems?
Mac
yes If I do buy stuff from itunes the first thing I do is rip it out to CD and then back in again to MP3 without DRM. It's not that I purposely rip off music. If I like something I buy it. I just feckin hate DRM as it limits what I can listen to and where
homer42
Thanks mac can anyone suggest a program to rip my cd collecton onto which is compatable for the ipod?
Omi
Mac, doesn't that result in even more digital loss and poor compression resolution? Why not just download MP3s direct from a peer2peer program at higher quality than iTunes?
Mac
I'm sure it does have 'some' affect but TBH I've never really noticed the difference. I love music, but I'm certainly not an audiophile as such - be fecked if I can tell the difference between CD -> MP3 as opposed to iTunes -> CD -> Mp3
