Maxyboy
i've got my car booked in to get around 5 scratches taken out of the screen. they are directly in my eyeline and are starting to really annoy me as the sun is starting to shine more. they appeared after a strong wind blew debris of my roof and the next morning my auto wipers created havoc!! i never wanted a new screen as i've seen these boys at work and can be a bit brutal. the guy tells me he uses a buffer and charges 50quid for the work. i realise pictures would be helpful but i have never been able to post on this forum for some reason. anyway, i will let you know how i get on incase anyone else is in the same situation. Sponge
I scratched my rear window last week (used a cotton cloth I thought was clean, but wasn't) and while it doesn't really impede my vision, it's bloody annoying knowing it's there. steelwind101
i think to acutally remove the scratches he would have to level your windscreen to the depth of the deepest scratch. ALl in all i think you notice them b/c there new. Also, if you get them dirty then they stand out. Also, at the right angles the sun will catch them. Over time your blades will wear them edges and they will catchless light.
Maxyboy
he says it is a cutting compound he uses which causes a fair mess with dust etc. he did say if they were too deep he may not manage it. he also said it was a small pad about 1.5 inch wide on a orbital. fresco1
I recently picked up a c. 2 inch light scrape in the driver's 10 o'clock position - very annoying. Once you know it's there it's REALLY annoying! I have found that they lessen over time, possibly with regular glass polishing. Or maybe its my mind playing tricks! Jeweller's Rouge can be used, but I'm not had the courage. To be honest, I reckon it's best to live with them (I agree with you on the style of windscreen replacement that seems to be favoured of late - hammer and chiesel strategy!), and one day get a new screen. But once you see them, it's awful from then on!
