Daz
Was travelling on the A14 over the weekend and notice that there are Specs cameras being installed near Huntingdon. Apparently it's going to cover the stretch from the A1 @ Huntingdon to the M11 @ Cambridge.
Botang
Yep they have black bags covering them at the moment. Itll cure everything though because its the lorries going over 70 that cause the problem
garcon magnifique
Bastards. Couldn't they have waited until after the M1 roadworks?

rhyds
Well, it's still the illegitimate amalgamation of the A45 and A604, similar to audi making a mid-ranger by taking the front half of the A3 and welding an A6 back end on, and the junction at the M1/M6 end is horrendous. Daz
From Cambridge eastwards it's OK, and from Huntingdon westwards it's also OK. It's the bit from Huntingdon to Cambridge which is totally crap and now Specs will make it worse - it needs widening to 3 lanes more than anything. Vagabond
I've travelled the A14 many times and i'm always amazed at the amount of drivers doing a 100mph+. The last time i was on it a guy in a MKV R32 with tuning co. stickers, came hooring by me
garcon magnifique
On the rare occasions it's clear enough I just stick the cruise on 70 on the A14 - can't be arsed remembering where all the cameras are.
Golfer
Before long "BIG BROTHER" will be monitoring your use of oxygen, and if the tories get in once you've had your air-mile quota and oxygen quota your F**ked. If your staying in this sh*thole best get one of these . Honestly does this inspire prosperity in the UK?.

gizze
There is no slip lane on that road, so as soon as there is an accident the whole thing comes to a standstill. A friend of mine was hit by a foriegn lorry on that road and had to be airlifted out! My Dad's old partner was over taking a foriegn lorry when it pulled out and hooked his rear bumper up with the cars front bumper, dragged him for over a mile with the front drivers side hitting the central reservation, he had time to get a pen out of the glovebox and take the lorries company name down and reg plate. All the cars behind had stopped way back and a couple of people called the policewhen they saw what was happening. He eventualy came away but the lorry still carried on. When the police interviewed him he said he remembers hearing something but thought he had hit a bird!! That road has got to be the worst for people staying in the oiutside lane, there can be half a mile between cars on the inside lane and still you will get everyone sat in the outside lane even though it takes them 3 minutes to get passed the next car!! Mook
I've noticed more Specs cameras going up all over the place on motorways where there's no roadworks - M1 Northbound near the M18 junction (normally a good fast cruising bit of road) and the M3 Southbound where the M25 joins it. I don't reckon there's going to be any need for these black boxes the Govt is allegedly going to be trying to put in everyone's cars, the feckin cameras will see everywhere you've been. Turrican
The speed limit is going to be 50mph on the A14 where the specs are.
theduisbergkid
God I hate SPECS and this f*ckwitted government. How about doing something to prevent HGVs travelling from the Midlands to the coast from overtaking each other ? Then the 2 lane 55mph road becomes one with moving traffic. How many pedestrian deaths on the A14 ? None I'll bet, because it largely crosses open countryside and hardly any residential areas. Whats the bloody point of Specs on this road ? How about some Specs where people live, where it will make a difference to peoples lives, not just government coffers ? Arsebags. [/ QUOTE ] Just for reference, there's a trial about to start on the M3 southbound/M25 junction to make it easier to join the m3 from the m25 - hence the cameras. It will last about a month IIRC. TBH they needed to do something here as it can be accident-prone.
