johnny11
OK i`ve got a day off this week with nothing planned, so i`m gonna spend the day giving the black RS6 a good wash polish etc. is this the right order i`m going to do this?? wash with plain water (mf wash mit) wash with AG bodywork shampoo conditioner (mf wash mit ) dry with Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel Apply AG UDS with mf cloth , polish of with clean mf cloth then AG EGP on with mf cloth, off with clean mf cloth apply Poorboys EX Sealant with clean mf cloth, polish off with clean mf cloth. then last i will apply Collinite #915 wax with a applicator, and wax off with clean mf cloth. is this the right way? steelwind101
Hi!! Dont go near your car with out the lube and protection of a car soap!! UDS AND EGP go together really well. YOu can top EGP with 915 but to be honest durability will probably be very similar. EGP requires a good 12 to cure, applying 915 before the curing process will probably make EGP less effective and it could even not seal and wear off with the 915 attached. Poor boys EX has no place in this set up. You could use EX then 915 but you would need to aquire a dedicated paintwork cleaner first. £7.99 at Halfords would get you Meguiars DC1. So to recap: wash with AG bodywork shampoo conditioner (mf wash mit ) dry with Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel Apply AG UDS with mf cloth , polish of with clean mf cloth then AG EGP on with mf cloth, off with clean mf cloth Wait 12 hrs or until next wash Then wash as normal and apply: then last i will apply Collinite #915 wax with a applicator, and wax off with clean mf cloth. You could just do UDS then 915!! Geoff
johnny11
sorry i forgot to add that after drying from the AG shampoo is that the best time to use megs quick clay??
johnny11
Thanks for the advice steel, you say don`t go near the car without lube and protection of car soap, which car soap is best?
Gaz7
Alternatively, you could use EX instead of EGP - it's no where near as fussy, and #915 will bond to it with no problems. This would give you UDS>EX>915. I've also found (and it's recommended by AG) that it's SRP and EGP that go well together - AG don't actually recommend using EGP over UDS when you speak to them - although you can. Geoff is right though - you shouldn't be using EGP and EX - it's one or the other. Gareth

johnny11
Ok i think i`ve got it, wash with AG bodywork shampoo conditioner (mf wash mit ) dry with Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel megs quick clay Apply AG UDS with mf cloth , polish of with clean mf cloth poorboys ex, off with clean mf cloth Wait 12 hrs or until next wash then Collinite #915 wax with a applicator, and wax off with clean mf cloth

ahaydock
So you have to wait to apply the Collinite - can you not apply after the Poorboys? You could also use the QD Spray you get with the clay kit to help drying and lubing your app pads.
Gaz7
It is better to wait to allow the sealant to cure - you can apply sooner (and if you're in a rush or want to get everything done on one day, loads of people do); at best this will lower durability levels; at worse, it'll remove the sealant or make applying and removing the wax difficult. BryD
If you want quick curing sealant try CG M-seal layerable in 10 mins, nice easy on/off product.
bpsmith
I have the Wolfgang Sealant in both hand application and also spray spritz application. The hand version needs to be 12 hours between applications and the spritz is only an hour. The spritz is generally used to top up extra layers over the hand version I am told so anything that can be layered after 10 mins must be less effective on this basis? steelwind101
Hi Jonny, i would apply to whole car and then go back and buff. Its really windy here today (Essex/N.London) and yesterday i was doing a Crystal Mist wipe down after washing one of our cars and i noticed dust and bits of tree were on the car. If thats the case for you you might want to apply, wait and wipe down. Or use some QD to help making a buffing a little bit safer. Your car is going to look pretty sweet, with 915 on you will get PLENTY of beading this week as the weather looks like its taking a turn for the worst!! Gaz7
Just to add - you may find it better to work panel by panel - Collinite does not need a long time to haze, and doesn't need to sit on the paintwork. People can sometimes find it a little harder to get off if they leave it on for too long - working a panel at a time is fine. Gareth

Gaz7
Nice finish on the car Some tyre shine would finish the job off lovely though - their greyness lets the side down a little! Just to add about your camera - the pics look a tad over-exposed on my screen - the car is losing some of the richness from it's colour; and areas like the headlight in the last shot are beginning to white out. As you said, it may just have been struggling with the light conditions, especially if the shots were hand-held. *edit* they are clearly hand-held - i can see your reflection in the last shot!
