R32Geordie
I'm heading out down south this weekend to do a bit for Comic Relief in Milton Keynes and also for a few beers in Oxford. I will therefore put a few miles on the car so I filled up last night, and also decided to check the oil and tyres. I noticed that the tyre pressures inside the filler flap are Metric and should be 2.8 Bar for a non fully loaded car. This equates to 41 PSI. I must admit this is the first time I've checked the tyre pressures They were all at 32PSI and I bet they were filled at that pressure. The car instantly feels more agile and quicker but 41PSI... is this correct ??? Cheers
OliFH
Not sure about the tires - but watch your car in Oxford! There is a one man car crimewave (even got himself on TV a while back!), and if he's not being detained by her majesty at the moment he'll be all over your car! ChrisBuer
Yes, 40psi is spot on. Either 2.8 bar or 40psi is what's recommended for these tyres! I run mine at these levels and the car feels great!!
R32Geordie
I am certian that all 4 tyres have not lost exactly 9 PSI each since I've had the car. The car was therefore delivered with the wrong pressures and I didn't think to check I've been driving for the last year on underinflated tyres !! Honestly, with 41PSI in each corner it's like having a new car. I would urge all MkV R32 owners to double check their tyre pressures. Thanks for help again chaps. Decked
When I got my tyres changed, I checked that the tyres had been inflated fully. They told me they had...... I checked while I was there they were miles off! They couldn't believe how much the R tyres needed! (mines a Mk4 but by the sounds of things the Mk5 is the same) I recon they didn't infate them properly

Mattchaps
What pressure are MkIV owners running their's on?? I would have thought it should be about the same
Tonsko
The ones that it tells you on the inside of the petrol flap.

Not one of the cars I've ever had has had the correct pressure levels upon collection. Most of the time they are totally over-inflated if anything as I think they just get the local work experience kid to pump them up until he thinks they "look" ok! Not only that, but over / under inflated tyres lead to bad handling, increased road noise and most of all uneven tyre wear!
theshadow
Says on the door jam of my MVK that you should run the tires at 36psi when teh car is unloaded and 40psi when it's fully laden...I usually split the difference and go for 38 psi. I do find that at 40-41 the car feels 'crisper' but seems that when the traction does run out the breakaway is more abrupt than when the pressures are slightly lower.
