pingpongpo
How many readings do these things take etc before a speed is decided upon? I was going above the limit on a empty bit of dual carriageway when I rounded the corner (Haughley bends on the A14) so its fairly sharp if any of you have driven around it when I spotted it about 200 yards ahead as soon as I came out of the corner. I put the brakes on fairly sharpish but was wondering if it is an instant reading and what distance they do it at etc.
Maxyboy
as far as i know there are some cameras that can "get you" from 1000 feet away. and i think it is pretty much an instant reading. my usual means of information on this subject is not available at the moment but i'm sure someone else will clear it up.cheers. Mook
I was snapped at least 800 yards before a Scamera van last year. Over the brow of a hill in a 40 zone and there he was sitting in his usual place (but not what you'd expect at 7am on a Sunday!) - slammed on the anchors and got to 40 within a very short space of time. FPN through the door a week later with a recorded speed of 46. I wouldn't have minded too much, but there was a fire at work...
sufu
I thought they had to make a judgement of speeding with the naked eye before they could resort to measuring your speed with a device now? And that it's not possible to be able to make that judgement over around 450m?
Mook
AFAIK, they just leave the scanner on and zap everyone.
