willie1973
Hello, Just picked up new A4 Avant S-line this morning and am overall very impressed, however have just one gripe and thats the noisyness of the climate control. Is this a known problem? and can it be corrected? If not what do you all do, turn the radio up??? Cheers, Willie

robpink
Hi Willie, welcome to the forum. Is C/C set to manual setting with high fan speed? Reset to default setting by pressing 'auto' button. Also make sure whe windscreen de-mister button is not switched on.
willie1973
I noticed it driving back from dealer. Fan speed was 4 and it was above about 40mph, almost like wind coming through the vents. When I turned the CC off it stopped??!!??
CarMad
If its trying to cool ... heat up the car then it will blow hard until that temperature is achived. When its got there the fan will calm down. Leave it on Auto IMO, it will then only blow warm air when the car is getting warm then and will slow the fan down when its achived the right temp. Welcome to TSN by the way.
gizze
I agree, I have to have the fan set manually at 2 bars, anything higher than that and it is just annoying.
S4teve
Can't say I've noticed it - or is just cos I have more noise in the cab

jpullen
Slightly off topic, but is it just me that finds at motorway speeds more air is pushed out of the central vents without changing any settings, much to my annoyance. And the only way to stop it is to either turn the fan off altogether or close the vents?
Quattrophenia
I noticed on my first A4 (B6) that the aircon was very noisy (through windscreen and dash vents) - especially at anything over 30/40 mph. My S4 (B7) is exactly the same and in both instances have found the only solution is to set the CC to floor vents only.

willie1973
Arr Haa, Thankyou all. Sounds like it's a common problem and having tested out the stereo yesterday, I think I know how I am going to combat it. Also the heated seats seem like a much more pleasant way of comfort control than the ....er.....comfort control.............although not in August obviously. Changing the subject, any thoughts on "running in" the engine......it's a 2.0 tdi....????? Manual say 3/5 max engine speed for first 1000km.....so I reckon about 2500-3000rpm???????? Finlaggan
Noticed this when test driving prior to getting my A4 170Tdi Q. Dealer's service manager said that new A4 has no plenum chamber in the heating/ventilation system, unlike earlier versions. Makes it noisier. On mIne, keeping manual control with some air to the footwells makes it much quieter.
