Just gone past 10k miles this weekend and two things happened.

Firstly oil low warning came on and I put in 1 litre of Castrol to get it back up.

And then the low coolant light came up so I had to put in about a litre of Evian (nothng but the best! laugh.gif) from the garage....

Strange they came on at 10k.

Cant help but think these would have been picked up in the 10k service if it wasn't on Variable Service.

Also had the tyre rotated last week as the fronts are showing signs of wear.

Again if I had waited until the AVS, they would have been shot.....

This about normal?

omg dont put water in!!! get down to the audi garage and get the proper coolant required... also tell them what you have done in case they recommend flushing the water out.

replacing some oil is normal, coolant is not to my knowledge. personally id never rotate tyres but thats up to you.

true, and yes, do put water in. The amount of coolant lost will not be anywhere near requiring the coolant (anti freeze(RED!!)) concentrate. Do you not know that the coolant IS water based?. Never top up with any antifreeze other than the VW/AUDI Red (cant remember the code)

You should look at the type of mileage you do and consider swapping to fixed interval maintenance. Audi and VW have changed all their literature to say cars doing less than 30 miles a day or certain duration journeys should go on fixed interval.

Coolant still nice and pink so no worries there.

Tyre rotation was, i think necessary, as fronts were wearing far faster than the rears (it's a quattro too). At least now they will all need replacing at the same time.

I believe there is a leak in the coolant system as the inside steams up a lot, and I have to constantly drive with the air coming out of the screen vents...... tech's 'cannot replicate described fault'. frown.gif can't think they tried very hard.

As for presures, dont check them as often as i should to be honest, but they are all up there at around 37 and always check them before going to Europe (inflate to higher level).

Finally, the car does say 1100 miles a month, but also sits for at least a week a month without being driven.....

Probably about time I started having a look under the bonnet from time to time too.....
