hi all my 3.7 a8 sport wont change right wen you pull awy from first to second it will over rev and change up a bit late all other gears are ok its just first to second oh and my sun roof works wen it wants to any idears ? hope your well nik w hope to be at the meet again soon thanks allen

Sounds like the box is slipping the only thing I can suggest is to get the ATF changed and see if there is any improvement. As far as the sunroof is concerned you need to pull apart the over head console and get to the switch and clean the contacs, this is common. (though has not happened on mine fingers crossed)

Have you had the gearbox reprogrammed?

I know you could have the gearbox setup, so that it stays in first gear right to the rev limit. I am not sure whether this is like sport mode setup.

You should have your gearbox read to see if any fault codes exist.

A sticking solonoid on the pressure side will be the likely electrical fault.

If the speed increases as the revs go up then it is unlikely to be slipping, especially in such a low gear.

If no fault comes up on the fault code then the actuator spring that controls the ball check valve must be sticking or worn which means dropping off the sump and valve chest to clean it out. If your not confident as a mechanic then I would advise using a specialist as it's a complexed job - not to mention messy!
