1/4 mile times

I'm just interested if anyone on here has taken there standard 4.2 D2 a8 up the strip?

i have changed my car recently from a 200 bhp supercharged mk1 golf that used to run 14.1 sec 1/4's to a V8 A8 because the car is so smooth and quiet and deceptively fast(compared to my golf) I'm unsure which is quicker so till i get a chance to run it up the 1/4 just wondered if any one else had times?

those are just "calculated/estimated" times

they don't take into account any of the real world variables that would affect 1/4 mile times but they do give the S8 a good set of figures

so its good pub ammo

Racing the A8 is quite frustrating really, theres nothing you can do to make it go faster, it is incredible consistent with times on the same day within 7 thousandths of a second my best being 15.003. The 14 is so close but other than waiting for a day with a good tailwind I'm not sure what else to do. I tend to hold the accelerator and brake on to get a decent start and I've found it to be quicker in auto than in tiptronic. Its the mid track acceleration where my car tends to suffer a bit, The 5 speed maybe slightly quicker so itll be interesting to see your times.

cheers for that i know im trying to compair cars that are worlds apart its just the golf seemed so fast everytime i drove it (raw) where as the audi dosn't feel fast till i clap eyes on the speedo (refined), if i go down there ill post up the times

The main difference is it being auto and being stacked full of sound deadening so you dont get the sensation of speed in the same way.

He only has a 4 speed to, so the times "should" be similar i would assume. I dont know if there is any specific time differences between the 4 and 5 speed, but i personally feel my "facelift" 5 speed does feel quicker then me old 4 speed i had....
