belperandy
Selling my R32 at the moment and just wanted to check with you guys if you think I am asking fair money for it. Thing is it needs to be gone in about 8 weeks which is when I need the cash for my first house. Is it likely to sell in this amount of time? Car is one of the best condition 2nd R32's I have seen. I spent ages looking for it so it really is mint. Its an 04 53 plate just under 24K miles, with every extra except the sunroof. Reflex silver 3 door. Just serviced, just MOT'd and 4 new tyres and a full years RoadTax. It sounds a bargain to me, but thought I would ask what you guys think. I am asking 15,500 for it, does this seem reasonable. I come to this figure purely by looking at other R32's for sale, and these all seem a little more money for less car. Also where is the best place to advertise from past experience of MK4 R32 sellers? I have only put it on tyresmoke at the moment. Thanks

belperandy
I have had a call from a Wanted Ad on piston heads. Can anyone give me a bit of advice as soon as possible. Basically it sounds like are a small garage that buy specialist cars to sell on. They go by the name of amgperformance and the chap is offering to drive up to my house tonight and pay cash for the car. It is slightly less than I would want for it private. What I am wondering is has anyone had any dealings with them before and any company like this. Thing I am worried about is being paid in cash. I just want to make sure it is a safe legitmate sale. Cheers

Royston8
Sounds like a good price to me, just sold my MkIV 2004, 5dr, 29k, with every option available(ex demo) for £17k. I had a few calls from Pistonheads, Autotrader was a waste of time, but Ebay was the best, sold my last 2 cars on there.
robin09
Well they certainly appear to have alot of cars. Can't hurt to ask him what his trading address is to look it up. But he may very well be serious, and if paying by cash, it rules out the risk of dodgy cheques.

If so ask them if they would check the cash for you? I did this when I sold my Escort Cosssie for cash, my next neighbour used to work for a Building Society, asked her if she would check and count the money for me, which she kindly did, just as well as it contained several dubious £20 notes which she found straight away!!! The cash was still sealed in its bundles from the the bank my buyer had got it from as well Cash is king!!!! Good luck with the sale by the way... Thanks [/ QUOTE ] I got a text quote for a "trade in price" and with mine being in mint condition like yours it came in at 15.5k so you may be under pricing slightly but then if you need a quick sale i would say that is a fair asking price but dont get knocked any lower unless desparate !! belperandy
Thanks for all the info guys. Turned out the chap from AMG Perfermance phoned me back and started trying to knock me down before he set off. Started offering me £14500. I would rather keep it for that amount and leave it in classifieds till it needs to go. He was so eager to come that evening and take it off my hands which worried me slightly. I would so much rather sell it to someone on TSN which is where I bought it from in the first place. njay I live about 20 minutes from derby city centre if thats any help to you. I have also just taxed it for 6 months.
bmx
sold my gti through pistonheads within a week, thats really iritaiting when people try to knock down before they have seen it. when the guy tried to chip me on the sale i said i would only accept the asking price as i had 4 more people waitng to come and view the car asap. he then paid the full amount no problem. jaydash
Two things: sold my MINI GP last year and was also worried about cash. Someone advised me to agree in advance that you will go with the buyer to the bank to pay the cash in (preferably in their car, not the one you are selling). If okay, then the car is theirs. This would put off any dodgy dealers with funny money and to be honest, if they can come in the evening, they should be able to come in the day. And banks are open on Saturdays etc. Secondly, not being funny, but if I knew that someone was very keen to sell a car, and it wasn't *exactly* what I was looking for, I'd expect to get a bargain as a private buyer. Just being honest, and I know that dealers etc won't know how keen you are, just us on here, privvy to that info. PS. 15k would be a LOT of notes, wouldn't it! PPS. I sold to a legit BMW dealer in the end, who came and viewed, left a cheque and allowed me to cash it before releasing car. Admitedly, it was a sought-after vehicle, so I was holding the cards really.
belperandy
OK looks like the car may possibly be going tomorrow to the same people as I stated previously AMP Performance. They have now agreed to pay the original amount we agreed. I would like to hang on and get more money for it private but it could be a bit of a gamble if I still have it on my hands in 8 weeks time. So if any one does want a fully specced low mileage mint Mk4 let me know as it could be going tomorrow. Thats if these guys don't change their mind again.
