B7 cab rear lamps to B6 cab - easy peasy !

Just thought I'd let the B6 cabriolet guys know that I've easily retrofitted a set of B7 cabriolet lamps to my B6 cab today.

Many thanks to Neil for supplying one of the lamps - I got lucky with the other on 'fleabay' for £15

Very easy job to swap the lamps over. You only need to change 4 wires per side which involves cutting off one of your bulb holders to replace it with a '501' (side light) bulb holder for the new sidelight (due to the new design).

There is also a new B7 2007 centre brake light (which I saw on the nice black cabirolet and Ipswich Audi) which also matches the new style lamps. I have ordered one of these (again, THANKS Neil !)

Anyone wanting advice or help changing their lamps then let me know.

Andy

Why would I want to what ?? The new lamps make the car look much better. The rear lamps on mine look dated so a change to the new style and a private number plate hide the age of the car (Even though it its only 3 years old).

As for the difference in the lamps - well the B6 cab lamps are not 'see through' just normal plastic. Whereas the new cab lamps are like those on the new A3s / TTs etc - rear clear lenses with strange reflectors inside !
