davyk31
I am considering buying a digi camera mainly for family shots etc so nothing too fancy is required. Any recommendations as to what to go for? Are any of the printer and camera packages worth while? I am assuming most cameras can be recharged now rather than having to pump in batteries all the time? Low to mid price items are probably what I want to go for, something decent to do my job without spending a load of cash. On the printing side of things...... is it best to buy a specific photo printer or just gather up a load of pics on a card and head to Boots? CarMad
Fuji F30 or F31d... cracking cameras certainly the one to beat. For printing, use photobox it works out at a quarter of the cost for ink and paper let alone the cost of the printer in the first place.

The F30 is actually the which? best buy for compact cameras in the 150 - 250 price range. The test was reported on 14th March so its up to date with whats on the market. drpellypo
Depends what you are looking for really. The Fuji has a big screen, but no viewfinder, which I couldn't live with. A Canon will give you better quality pics for same price, but I'm assuming the feature set of the Fuji gave it all the prizes. Best thing, above everything you read on here, is to go to somewhere like Jessops and try loads of cameras - see which one is best for you. Everyone on here will probably just recommend what they own!
Mac
Big fan of the F30 & F31 - F30 now given to ex-wife as have F31 on order. The F30/31 are absolutely stunning at handling low light situations and also the flexibility of their aperture/film speeds etc. is just fantastic. They also work brilliantly underwater (with case!). By far one of the best units around for the money IMHO
davyk31
Very tempted by the F31 to be honest. Only about £25 more than the F30 with a few more features so seems good value. Read also about an F40 with 8.0 megapixels, anyone any knowledge of what this is like. Canon ones do seem good too, liked the look of the Ixus 850 but a bit more money for it. CarMad
Second the above. I only print out the odd photo at home. The rest go to photobox .. brilliant service and its cheap.
davyk31
Have ordered the Fuji F31fd as seemed like the best offering for a reasonable cost. Next couple of days I should get it so then the playing can begin!
MattS3
Does anyone own a Sony T50 ? I see John Lewis had them at £200 today, seemed a steal and really compact too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000IV1M6C/3000066-21/ref=nosim

drpellypo
It may be in reviews, but I've seen real life comparisons, and the Canon is better imo.
