Hi guys, after a quiet period I'm looking to come back into the audi scene. I'm looking for a low mileage, high spec facelift 4.2 Quattro sport or S8. The more toys the better, although I'm not bothered about the rear seat entertainment pack or a towbar as I have both of them ready to fit.

Bonus points awarded for glass or solar roof, bose, blinds, sat nav, TV, phone prep, rear seat pack, etc etc.

If anyone is thinking of moving theres on soon, give me a shout with spec and an idea of price

cheers

Ian

They are a rare thing indeed at the moment. I have been looking for a late d2 02 reg s8 with low miles for almost a year now.

Still havent found the right car. The prices have come down to a level were people dont seem to be selling the good ones. Good luck anyway !

Hmmm... Seen a few dogs now, getting bored of looking - Starting to think they don't exist, and if they do, they'll be stupid money... I'm thinking instead now of getting a high spec 4.2 non-sport, and making it sport spec... Can it be that hard? Wheels, suspension and front sports seats should cover it... ? - Has anyone here ever tried to convert a non sport suspensioned A8 to the 20mm lower stuff?

TBH fella you're probably best finding a sport version. There are a few around just depends how far you want to travel. Don't forget, the TSN massive are normally more than willing to have a look at something for you 169144-ok.gif

BTW fancy coming to the York meet tomorrow? Maybe get some ideas? beerchug.gif

Hi, really depends on your budget tbh. But in fairness generally i find that A8's / S8's are difficult to price, some fetch good money while others dont...

This Q sport looks worth a look for me, nice mileage etc, the advert says Nav installed, but looking at the piccys i think its wrong as i dont see antenna on de boot...

80,000 high ?.....well for your average car yes, but for a 4.2 litre V8 that lives most of its life below 2500 rpm, i would consider that not a lot at all..

If you find a low mileage 2001 2002 car, then your going to pay a premium for it. A 2002 S8 with 50 k for example:- is goona cost at least £17000 from the trade.

Yes i agree its nice to have a lower mileage car and it gives peace of mind. But low mileage cars can have as many problems as high miler's because they are just not used enough.

I was told by Derby Audi D2 S8 (mine) was worth about 15k re-sale and thats with 45000 on the clock frown.gif

thats just typical of a dealer trying to get your car for nothing, and sell you theirs at TOP money. I have been and still do look at almost all S8's for sale, and those prices/examples i posted seem to be the norm imo..

Look here for example 71 k 2001 £15,000

2001 S8

Another here :- 2002 54k £18,000 granted this one is a bit OMG on the interior and "maybe" a bit high priced for that colour, but its an idea....

2002 54k

I would tell your dealer he's just waaaaaaaaayyy of the mark

Nice low mileage d2 s8s (02 reg) are exceptionally rare. I have been looking for the right one for over a year now and still havent found it. I am glad I bought the 3.7 I have at the moment, its still the nicest d2 a8 I have looked at and I have looked at alot. Their are loads of high mileage abused older cars out there for sure. But as we all know these are serious motors and if you dont buy wisely they can easily turn into money pits. I am concentrating getting my 3.7 how I want it at the moment, I am losing hope a bit now and going towards waiting for an early d3 s8 to be sub £30,000. We will be there within 12 months. At the end of the day I already have a 400bhp motor so the s8 is just an indulgance...

You only have to look on autotrader / ebay regualrly to see how hard to come by nice ones are. I check ALL the usual places daily autotrader, ebay, pistonheads etc etc etc. That applies to s8 or 4.2 sports...I am very specific in the colour, condition of the cars I buy. I wont compromise on quality.

To put it in perspective I found it much easier to buy the right 4200 Maserati than an s8. It took me around 6 months to find the maserati which in itself is not a numerous car....

I say fair play to those that have nice 02 s8s. There are a few on here they are a very nice car and fantastic value for money if you get the right one. I am very jealous frown.gif

Incidentally I agree the dealer retail on an 02 s8 with a nice coloour combo (silver black leather) decent spec would be £17000 - £18000. If you can find it.

Thanks for the info guys (and Tony for the York invite). Been a busy couple of days all in all, but sold my passat for the money I wanted and ive bought myself a 2000 D2 A8 4.2 non sport.. I've had S8 before, and A8 4.2 sport before, but this is the first car I'll of had with pretty much every option on it:

Bose, CD, Blinds, Solar roof, Sat Nav, TV, Xenons, Rear electric/heated seats, Ski hatch, phone prep (including unused phone), multi function steering wheel and I think servotronic too. Just add my towbar and rear seat Sony entertainment kit and I think I have a full house wink.gif

66000 miles, all 4 original keys, FSH, 2 owners, One was a chauffeur service (2 years), and last one was a hotel owner. Gearbox & suspension both mint. Boot unused, No messing around with the car in any way other than fitting some 19" rims, which will be coming straight off as I don't like them at all ! (owner including original ones also)

If I find its not sporty enough, I still figure it would be easier to make this into a really nice sport, than try and find a sport with this spec and mileage..... we shall see

oh, £8700 BTW., which I think is good value....

I pick her up Tomorrow all being well.... This is the only photo I have at the mo.

If anyone has any 6 spoke avus (s8), or 7 spoke sport style alloys they want to part with, let me know. Also, if anyone fancies this set of 19's, you know where I am ;-)

Nick, looks like you have got yourself a nice car there, best colour combo, same as mine. !

It looks like a great price as well. People seem to love the sports seats and the lower ride on the sport and s8, I actually quite like the ride on the sstandard and the interior. I am sure you will love it.
