thebluedavis
Recently driving back from Manchester, tried to overtake a car in 6th gear and suddendly the car lost acceleration, I started to slow down and had to pull into the slow lane, then noticed I was still accelerating at a consistent speed at 3000rpm. I turned off the motorway, and I stopped, turned the car off and back on again, accelerated through the gears and everytime I got up to 3000rpm and could not go faster!? Any ideas!? Cupramax
What engine? If its petrol the usual failure points are coilpacks (you'll feel the car misfiring if its these) or MAF.
Wallachie
Sounds similar to an S3 I had, I could hear my turbo stop spooling between 2500 and 3000. Turned out to be a faulty MAF (Air Flow Meter). Common problem, so don't worry too much. £200 or so should sort it. I take it when you mean it wouldn't go any faster, you just mean it didn't accelerate properly i.e painfully slowly?
