Appologies in advance if this has been asked more than a dozen times but I did search and couldn`t find any relevant info.

Anywho got an `03 130 tdi golf and missus has booked it in for a service, bloke at the main agents said it`ll be £280 for it but she forgot to ask what would be change/replaced and be checked. Don`t wanna shell out if all their going to do is change the oil and filters.

Cheers

It depends which service you're having done. Just had the 80K service done on Mrs Mook's Passat with the same engine before we sold it, and it was £280, with no extras.

If it's the 60K service, it should include the cambelt change, so £280 is about right.

My, I was happy to pay that bill...

Cheers for the reply Rusty, just out of curiosity do you know what the main agents class as a full service?? because after looking about and checking the price they charge at awesome in manchester it seems like i`m paying way over the odds that i`ve been quoted from the main agent

I get mine serviced at Knaresboro, near Harrogate. Costs me £150 a service (longlife oil) and the brake fluid change was another £50. That's a special price as the service manager is a mate, but usually it costs about £210. Can't just remember what was done, and the accountant has the invoice.

If you fancy a ride up to Knaresboro, I'll ask him to sort you a price out. 169144-ok.gif

Cheers for the offer Rusty but I dropped the car of myself this morning at the garage. I asked the fella what was included in the price, he said an oil change, 'all' of the filters replaced, a full vehicle check and plugged into the scanner to check for faults.

I asked about the brake fluid change and thats not included in the price (usually its £65) but he said seeing as we`re paying £280 we could have it done just for an extra £20.

Seems a little bit on the hefty side but hopefully it`ll have a proper job done on it and thinking about it the price isn`t to bad because I wish my house was this cheap to maintain on a yearly basis

It changed in Aug 2005 when VW made a recomendation based on research into the rubber/plastic these belts are made of and now recomend that as they could perrish after 4 years or so, they should be changed. If I remember they also now say any Tyre over 6 years old can not be used on a VW car (this might be old news though).
