Calm Chris
Always fancied the idea of a 7 day Gulet Anyone ever been, done, tired If so was it fun and did the kids enjoy it?- Mr and Mrs chri5 would be happy with the sun, sea, books- but will it be enough fun for 14 and 10 y.o. (who can both swim like fish, both done Bronze, Silver and Gold, both have 1000m certs).
Tizzy
Never actually been for a holiday on one, but have chartered yachts in Turkey many times (and part own one that was until recently based in Gocek at the moment). I have been on board a few Gullet's for a look around, few observations would be: - Accomodation is very good - usually ensuite double cabins, later vessels have A/C etc as well. - Fully catered and usually very good food, although watch out that the bar may be extra cost for alcoholic drinks. - The Gullets always head into one of the larger resorts in an evening and generally tie up stern to against the twon quay, makes for easy access to the sites and shops! - I've never seen one actually sailing (despite the fact that some have sails) they motor everywhere. They tend to have a lot of watersports equipment on-board, some of the larger ones even have jetskis, which makes for good fun for the kids during the day, when they tend to anchor up for lunch etc. - They can be rather aimed at couples than families - so check this when you book. A lot of the big "pirate-ship" style gullets are now in fact operated by the big holiday companies such as Thompson and Kuoni - I'd tend to go with these as the vessels are much newer and better equipped than the (much) smaller private ones. - Finally I'd probably suggest going from somewhere like Marmaris and getting a route that includes Fethiye, Olu Denis and Gocek, as there's a lot of nice anchorages and places to see en-route.
