Vista "Local Only" internet connection

Anyone had issues getting online wirelessly with Vista?

I have just installed and can make connections to a couple of wireless networks but they only come up as 'local only' so i can't actually get online.

Anyone got any ideas?

I had this too. Re-installing the drivers with fresh vista ones from the netgear website sorted it. I also find this when I'm at the edge of my wireless range though. If I'm really close to router - all is fine, but I do get it occasionally when I'm upstairs.

cheers for the reply mate, but have just sorted it! was a firewall conflict with a third party firewall that i thought was switched off!

Were those router or card/dongle drivers? Have just checked on Netgear site for my router (834GT) and there is nothing for Vista unless you go to the US section.

Both. I upgraded the firmware on the router, and changed the drivers on the NIC.
