Adam
from a post on rs246 has anyone heard of this? "were just about to order the full milltek system ($9000) aussie dollars here, when i thought id put in a call to one of the other track drivers id just met who happens to be an Audi service manager...we talked warranty etc, anything in front of cat voids all engine warranty etc etc , well here in Aus it does, he then informs me to hang tight...next month he and his colleages are off to inglestadt for an Audi education program which includes.....RS4 PERFORMANCE UPGRADES!!!!! holy poo i said what are they.....i didnt get specs obviously but these are the new upgrades for the RS4 including but not limited to the list below. Performance chip Software upgrade High flow headers Full sports exhaust system Possible suspension Upgrades now i dont know about you guys but im creaming my pants!! And may god strike me dead he said " and of course this will all come with a full Audi factory warranty" could be BS but god I hope not - would get the exhaust upgrade in a shot
Daz
I'd be really surprised by this if it was true but who knows.

sitas3
I wouldn't want to think of the price of the mods if they are indeed covered by standard warranty!
PetrolDave
I'd love it to be true!
Woppum
A performance chip will give such a small gain I dont think Audi would bother. I could see a sports zorst being optional and possibly some other tweaks to try to put up more of a fight against the new M3.. However isnt production finished on these anyway? I doubt Audi will start piling on post sale options once the car is out of production...
Scotty
I'd be staggered if they do it. It'll be the first time ever that a non-factory fit performance enhancing mod will have warranty if true (for the UK at least). I can possibly see them adding the mods to the options list but not making available as after sale mods. We can hope though as it might open it all up across the board. Riz
Could be done by ABT? Riz
Scotty
What does that change? ABT have a relationship with Audi De but I don't believe it goes any wider i.e. it's not Audi Gmbh

I remember that the RS6 had a ECU upgrade by ABT which didnt void the standard warranty. Riz
Scotty
This was only in Germany although there was a bit of a myth that it was wider spread. Audi UK definately haven't covered any 3rd party mods.
shark_90
ABT do have some parts on UK cars - ChasDrury's A4 had ABT wheels from the factory, with Audi part numbers and were replaced under warranty. Although from what I gather ABT UK went bust. I would be surprised if any performance mods were covered by the warranty. And why the hell is a Milltek $9000 in Oz?!! As far as I knew they had gone bust in the UK but now seems like they are back -there are ABT adverts in audi driver magazine etc Chaz
Adam
$9000 = £3500 ? This was for a complete system, down pipes cats etc and everything is way more expensive in Aus apart from Holdens and Utes
EssFour
[ QUOTE ] I could see a sports zorst being optional and possibly some other tweaks to try to put up more of a fight against the new M3.. [/ QUOTE ] How do you know that the RS4 will have to put up more of a fight agaisnt the M3. The press have not even driven the car. As it stands the M3 needs to step up to the RS4. Even though we are comparing a coupe to a 4 door saloon.

The M3 is newer, lighter and more powerful and will be the obvious choice on the tip of your tongue if your looking to buy one of these cars next year. In order for the RS4 to not get forgotten or put in the background so to speak it will need a boost. Maybe this is Audis attempt. Of course the above is all meaningless if the Audi is out of production?
Scotty
"The M3 is newer, lighter and more powerful and will be the obvious choice on the tip of your tongue if your looking to buy one of these cars next year." To be honest, I'm not sure it's as clear cut as that. I don't see what's obvious. In my mind they meet subtly different niches. The M3 will be more involving. More of a "drivers car" (regardless of whether the driver can exploit it's ability) The RS4 will be a more accessible car that more people will be able to travel faster in, more of the time but won't be so rewarding It depends what you want from the car and this is excluding any brand loyalty, styling, exclusivity etc etc. It doesn't appear obvious to me either way. Adam
last thing I read the M3 would have 414bhp so exactly the same as the RS4, latest Autocar I think. not direct competitors still as I need the 4 doors but bet the M3 is great
Woppum
It is 420bhp but has less toque. In fact I have even heard of recent that t wil weigh the same! So il just shut up from now as I will be eating my socks...

Scotty
Depends on what your definition of better is. No one car is better at everything. There is always a compromise between one thing and another. The only real way one will be 'better' than the other is that one may suit a buyer 'better' than the other.
