Mook
Banner ad on the Autotrader web site for the Volvo V70 "Sport". The message goes like this: You can "Juice your ride" with the 2.4 (170PS) petrol, 2.4D (163PS) or D5 (185PS) diesel engines. Each one is powerful and smooth and, apparently "perfec for cruizin". Blimey. You may well find the odd baseball cap doffed in your direction as you cruise by. "Respec" indeed... I see someone at Volvo (probably the Global Brand Manager) is trying to appeal to a new market... Muppets

330dcoupe
For me, the new Volvo ranges are some of the best looking cars on the road at the moment. but yeah...the advertising is corny! almost as bad as Subaru bitching about every other brand that rivals it's new Legacy. Were better than they are in this and that and this and that. Very tacky IMO.

Sorry but you'd have to be on drugs to buy that instead on an X5
RacingRed
In the US they are advertising the S80 by focusing on a flashing LED on the dashboard that warns you about something in front of you. There's one with a woman who pulls away while a child is crossing the street (She's looking in her bag at the time) and another with a guy speeding through town coming up behind a slow moving lorry (He's talking and looking at the woman in the passenger seat). Because paying attention to the road while in control of a vehicle is such an f**king inconvenience when you're a retard. Nice one Volvo.

RacingRed
[ QUOTE ] Is that true, about the light? That's madness if so. Although figures! [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately it is. You'd think that in the land of litigation someone would have thought the risks through, but I guess Volvo has a disclaimer covering their arse buried in the manual somewhere that says "Our flashing LED sensor thing is not a substitute for road awareness". There's an accompanying print advert as well that reads: [ QUOTE ] The Luxury Car That Treats Life Like The Greatest Luxury Of All. If you consider life the greatest luxury, you'll want a luxury car that makes protecting life its first priority. The all-new Volvo S80 does exactly that with new Pre-Emptive Technologies that can actually detect dangerous situations before they happen. These world-firsts ensure that for people both inside and outside the car, the luxury of life calmly goes on. And with the power of an available 311-hp V8 and elegant Scandinavian design, the driver experiences a perfectly struck balance of performance and luxury. [/ QUOTE ] Of course, if you have a sensor and an LED to handle road safety and awareness then you might as well have a V8 and make the most of that safety, right?
