danksy
My S4 doesn't have any locking wheel nuts at the moment Not even factory fitted I have heard that McGuard are good but I remember a horror story on TSN about someone who managed to break one off after the local grease monkeys air-gunned up nuts So which ones do you recommend guys? Daz
Considering that Molly is currently stranded in France due to his McGuard's shearing whilst manually tighting his wheel, I don't think they are a good idea. My S4 had the audi ones factory fitted though. Although the ones on the RS are the newer type and look more like McGuard's ones
Tunbridge
I've had McGaurd on all my cars. Really well made product and always do well in reviews. I've never had any problems but I'm guessing any set of locking nuts will break if you over tighten them enough.
Daz
I'm not sure it's possible to overtighten with the Audi wheel brace though.
kite
I use McGuards, there is a group buy going on the TT forum. I also copper slip my wheel bolts to stop them seizing
P_G
I had McGuards but had a nightmare when one was torqued up too much and when I was trying to loosen it, the key mangled the pattern on the stud. Trip doen to my tyre dealers and he had the damaged McGuard off in 30 seconds. So much for their security rating. He said not to waste my time and gave me hex bolt locking wheel nuts instead, i.e. it has a hex shaped head on it.
Scotty
[ QUOTE ] I'm not sure it's possible to overtighten with the Audi wheel brace though. [/ QUOTE ] Is it if you do them as soon as you come off track and then the cold air tightens them for you just that little bit more

Redavant
I've put an extra set of McGards on my wheels, noticed this week I've got a slow puncture, went to take the wheel off and found the key was damaged! Had to send off to Germany for a replacement key, which is a pain. Just pleased I didn't need it urgently! Unfortunately I made a an arse of myself in Audi newcastle, because I thought it was their bolts!!
Paul
McGuards are fine if you are willing to buy a spare key. I wouldnt own a set without having a spare. The keys are easily wrecked if you slip off. Been there and done it.

danksy
So what do I get then? Loathed to spend the cash McGuards if they are prone to breaking
