ysabelle
Got a 'trade' trade-in value from an Audi dealership yesterday of £16.3k. This was against a cancelled Audi TT order they were expecting in May priced at £27.5k ! In fact, the sales guy said that they would offer me £16k based on the May expected date. So therefore the GTI is losing £300 a month!??? My spec is : May 2006 5-Door Phantom Black with Leather, arm-rest, cruise and 18";s AND only 3.6k on the clock!! No I didnt mention that it is an import.... Obviously I told him where to stick his hairdresser car deal but do those prices seem right to you??? TagnuT
Before I got the Ed30 I went to get a price against a new TT. The trade in that they offered me was just taking the p*ss. £2k less than what it should have been. That was last Nov and they were talking about July Del this year. D1MAC
No doubt it would be on a VW forecourt for £20k+ before you could blink and it wouldn't surprise me if they kept quiet about the import bit as well. Just think what you would have been offered had you mentioned the import bit - Presumably the stealer was assuming that the TT was an in demand car that he could shift fairly easily without your specific 'assistance'. I suppose the only thing is that GTI prices have to take a bit of a tumble at some point, I'm just not sure it is just yet or quite that much for a car that would nominally have been £24k??? 12 or so months ago. oxfordlad
You are always going to loose money on a car and the GTI is no exeption. However just look at the comparisons to other vehicles then you will notice the difference.

The %ages might look better but if you do the sums with real world numbers it doesn't pan out at all - most tend to be much of a muchness when all factors are taken into account

winrya
No doubt they will have HPi'd it and been aware it was an import. My dealer said they take 2k off for imported GTI's

The sales guy would have said that the price reflected that fact - but he didnt. As some of you have stated, the Audi TT is in v.high demand and they have waiting lists of 6-7 months. They have cash buyers waiting in the wings and I got the impression that p/xing was a hassle for them. Oh well..... just have to put up with driving the GTI for a bit longer.... mikemod
I was offered £17000 for trade in against an ED30 about a month ago. 2005, 3dr, cloth, dsg, xenons, 23000 miles. So it looks like they have already taken the fact that it is an import into account.
