farmerpalmer
Well, almost covered the magic 1000miles of (gentle) running in, since I picked up the car 2 weeks ago. Fantastic to drive, can really feel the urgency. Taking it easy, and easily got 400miles out of the first tank. Averaged 35mpg on a long motorway cruise @ 70-80mph Spent the day washing the car. Got supagard from the dealer, and makes cleaning very easy. Will have to wait and see actually how long it lasts for. Anyway, finally got round to taking some pics

rsclzcd
Looks fantastic in silver! Glad your enjoying it! I've just got 1000 miles down on mine, and really enjoyed putting it through its paces yesterday in the cracking weather! It took me 4 weeks to do 1000miles - was very hard to take it steady, the car just begs to be driven quickly don't you think?
farmerpalmer
I am liking the black rsclzcd Have had a black car before, and know it can be a swine to keep clean. If only there was an "easy-clean" black, I would have been tempted. Black and silver must be the fastest colours
Timski
Very nice indeed. Could I still order a silver 3 dr through a dealer or are all the ED30s already built and spoken for?

petsy
they were originally from the R32...
flux
As in taken off an R32? or can you get hold of them as aftermarket parts then? Thanks.
robs1977
Yes the same lights are fitted to R32 and Edition 30 so no problem getting hold of them as an aftermarket part.
Oli
On the R32 they have fitted rear reflectors into the bumper, beacuse the lights dont have them, yet on the ED30 they have not - I wonder why this is and what the legal position is, as you have to have rear reflectors on a car
Snoopy
I wondered that too Oli when the ed30 came out and i asked here at the time but no one seemed to know. Im guessing they must have some sort of reflector that just enough in the lights or it would not be allowed out i would have thought.
RedRobin
Might it be anything to do with standardising to include the American market which probably requires the extra reflectives? - Probably not, but just a thought.
Tarmac_Terrorist
Rather than start a new thread, thought it best to add my question on to this...just reading this weeks Auto Express and they've updated their long term test on their Ed30. They claim that the suspension is 15mm lower on the Ed 30 over the normal GTI and a slightly firmer ride. Is this correct?
petsy
hmm, I thought that the suspension and brakes were identical on both models...
Tarmac_Terrorist
[ QUOTE ] hmm, I thought that the suspension and brakes were identical on both models... [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts exactly! Typical Auto Express - the guy writing the article had the standard GTI before getting the Ed30 and doesn't know the difference. Bet he would if he was spending his own money on one. RedRobin
15mm lower than the standard Golf, not the GTI !! The 'normal' (not Ed30) GTI is 15mm lower than standard Golf. 15mm is visually a very noticeable drop. It would mean different shocks and springs. Brakes are easy to compare - Just post a pic. I bet you they haven't been changed for the Ed30.
