DanG
Any ideas about what discounts are available for current model cabs? Particularly the 2.0T S-line? Failing that the dealer has a 1.8T auto in the showroom with the spec that we want.... just not the engine and idealy would like a manual. What discounts should be available off that? its only 163hp version with s-line pack and rear park assist, plus some other stuff. RRP is £32k..... Cheers for all help! DanG
That is a VERY good point. Have seen said promotion too....... Ah crap. I really cant decide between the TTR or a 2.0T S-line Cab...

I really cant decide between the TTR or a 2.0T S-line Cab... [/ QUOTE ] You are actually trying to decide between two very diferent vehicles aren't you? The TTR is in the vein of a sports car, fast, nimble where outright style takes priority over practicality - and you have to live with it day in, day out. The Cab isn't a sports car - sure you have a 200bhp engine under the bonnet and in a straight line it will fly along - it is built like a tank though and weighs the thick end of two tonnes...it is surprisingly agile but nimble isn't a word I'd rush to use. The Cab will take 4 people at a push, has a reasonable boot and is easy to live with - oh yes and once the initial depreciation hit has been taken they lose money at a glacial rate (unless you buy one of V8 models). This low depreciation/high residual value makes them cheap to lease as a company car or a wise choice if you are doing it privately. Desirable options are Xenons, leather, heated seats, Bose and parking sensors - and the DVD Nav for £500 you would be daft not to.... Does that help? I bought mine when it was 6 months old for what was effectively the base price of a new car - and saved £7k in the process. I'll stick a personal plate on it and no one will be any the wiser... New cars are 'only new for a day' and then they are like all the others.....
DanG
Some useful advice there thanks! I suppose i am asking the impossible. After having seen the TTR with its newer styling and superb looks, both inside and out, plus a pretty resonable price TBH, I was smitten.... Justification for a 2 seater was a little difficult however, being married and having two small dogs with the potential of maybe a kid in the next few years.... Plus we have a House in France to which we will want to drive with dogs.. However, we are already running an A4 Avant S-line Q 2.0T which is a superb family car, and fulfills any need for shifting dogs/people/luggage etc about, so the thought was there that we could 'get away' with the Roadster. But now we are begining to er on the side of the A4 Cab. Practical wise its a four seater with a little luggage, it fulfills the soft top need too. But the trade off is the lack of sportyness that the TT has in buckets! Heart says TTR, head says A4 Cab, but in getting the A4 cab I am worried about depreciation, particularly given the B8 seemingly round the corner and this is a private purchase too... plus we already have one 'big' car. Still don't know!
Cupramax
I've run an A4 3.2 cab for a year now and they really are an all round superb car. I've done pretty much the same as cosmicblue and picked up a mammoth spec ex demo car that was 3 months old and saved 9K on the new price! I would say find an ex demo 2.0T Cab as it will hold its money very well. I think I read somewhere the other day that the A4 cab is the second slowest depreciating car behind the Mini. cabboy
I'd recommend the A4 Cab as well - I've had mine for about a year now (2.0TDi) and it's been nothing but a pleasure. One caution, though. If you're tall like me (6'1) the seat behind the driver is not much use as there is very little leg room, but it sounds like that wouldn't be an issue for you. Drinks
Just to add I got just over 10% off my B7 A4 cab this time last year. Had to play a couple of dealers off against each other on a car that was showing in stock on the Audi system. If you definately want a new car that don't be shy about exactly what you want to pay and sooner or later a dealer will want the extra sales figure and will be prepared to meet you. The only downside is that it takes some of the fun out of the new car purchase.
DanG
I have looked at drivethedeal.co.uk and will be going armed with What Car and their Target price listing... looks like you can get about 10%..... and still have it in time for summer..... Thanks for the help, I'll let you know how things go so far as price, but its a cert now that its a 2.0T Cab with S-Line package which includes leather, rear park assist, Dolphin Grey metallic, black hood, NAV (if its really £500 in the Cab cant see the cab mentioned online), and Xenons, oh and colour DIS. Although it's interesting that the S-line Exterior package is an extra £750......on an S-line. I might have to get that too so it matches the avant we already have.... Nice car though!! Phantom
I have never understood why the exterior SLine kit is an optional extra on the cab, especially as it is standard on the saloon and avant. Still, I personally think it improves the look of the front of the cab which is why I ordered this option with mine
