skifly
Its the same one that blocked me in last week so at 5:30am monday morning i was having to move bins to get out. Unfortunately dont know who's it is otherwise would be happy to knock on their door at 5am as i have my usual flight to edinburgh to catch tomorrow. Hopefully they move it before then! So does anyone know an easy way to shift the thing if its still there in the morning? Know its a bit of a dodgy thing to ask as its a security issue, but was thinking maybe an easy way to set the alarm off and give someone a wake-up call, or pop the handbrake off etc...? Oh - and without damage of course!!! Have called the local audi_smitten's of the world about them before and they can deal with the car but they reckon it could take an hour or so to get it moved after i call up, esp at that time of the day. So any thoughts anyone...? Will do the usual note again but they are parked there again...! Or is there any way to get an addy for the owner as presume its someone a couple of doors away. rhyds
What type of rover 200 is it? The old-old 213/216 type (from keeping up appearances), the later "wedge" type or the even later bubble (same as an MG ZR/rover 25)
Woppum
I remember moving a porka boxter a few years back by lifting the nose and pushing. It set the alarm off but also did something to release the handbrake and it moved. Why dont you phone the council now and get it removed. At least then your car will be ready in the morning... jettadeluxe
scissor jack, wind all the way up, push car off, repeat until the car is out of the way. You might f**k up the sills, but serves the bugger right.
skifly
they are on the road behind me and the neighbours disco is beside me so cant shuffle sideways and getround. Pic attached. Fecked if i know what model of rover it is but a crappy phone pic is attached. Only see them usually when communicating with their wrinkly owners when they get scared of 2nd... scooby_simon
Confused; Does not look like there is a proper drive way here. If this guy has parked in front of your drive ?
steve2
so if i read this right, you are parked off the road(in garden?) and they are blocking your exit. have you a dropped kerb?
skifly
well technically its not a dropped kerb as is parking across the front of a building. We can get 3 cars across and i have the far right space. Just out of pic is a wall about 8-10 ft high so i cant squeeze by that side. My car is right under the bottom of the pic and i have a discovery on the left (he is out - checked already).
skifly
not a garden, proper block paved are - is meant for parking but only one of the spaces is allowed the dropped kerb according to council.
scooby_simon
As Steve says, do you have a dropped kerb; if so, you have a drive and so the guy should not be parked there. If no dropped Kerb; it's not a drive and so the person with the Rover can park legally and block you in.
skifly
yes i know. bit of a pain to be honest as council are being tits about it only allowing one space to have dropped kerb. Annoyingly they could have parked in loads of places along the road as they have about 4 car lengths in front of them!!
Tarmac_Terrorist
Probably parked like that on purpose then as it's not a dropped kerb to naff you off - particularly as you've previously left a message on their car. Grease under the door handels won't move the car but it may make them think twice about parking it their again.
steve2
the wierd thing is i think they cannot block you from getting on there but can block you in.(i may have that the wrong way round)

skifly
the note was actually quite ok considering...! I know technically i have no right as there is no dropped kerb, but it is only about 1" high anyways all the way down the street and the dropped kerb bit simply looks like the contractor took a mallet to the edge of the kerbstone and bashed a bit off. skifly
cant say i really want to go damaging the car!! plus might open up the possiblity of a tit-for-tat type thingy and my car getting keyed again!! Had that done once in bath and never again (i hope).
skifly
right - off to bed - early start and cross fingers that they have moved it by morning. Will check on here for good ideas, otherwise it will be time to annoy neighbours, then the jack and last resort will be a window. Night all. Ian_C
Sadly nowdays there are too many selfish idiots who feel they have a right to park anywhere. Followed a heap of a Cavalier down my street a few weeks back to find him slow down and then pull to the right hand side of the road and attempt to park slap bang across my drive. He also blocked in my neighbours Megane by the way he dumped it. Strange, for there was at least 40 feet of straight uninterrupted kerbage on the left hand side - the normal side of the road to park anyway, with the traffic you would have thought. Whilst I made sure didn't use language, I wasn't exactly softly spoken. He eventually moved it, selfishly dumping it right in the middle of aforementioned 40 foot gap that would have taken two cars if parked with common sense. At no stage did he apologise. He said he wasn't breaking the law by parking across a driveway. Absolute rubbish! Ticketable offence, blocking a drop kerb. He got well shirty when I snapped his plate with my camera phone before I let him to it. Have never before seen such a dire display of ignorant, antisocial, selfish behaviour concerning parking.
