S3Bangs
Today and still waiting!! Surely this can't be right 9 weeks ago to the day, I rang Admiral - RAC windscreen replacements (Apparently, this is the number I had to ring 'cause my insurance is with Admiral), they put me through to a local windscreen place near me, who got all the details for the car and told me it'll be a next day replacement. Now here is the twist. I asked for an original VW windscreen and not a replacement one at the time and was told, if I wanted an original part, it would take 2-3 weeks to get hold of. I wasn't really fussed as the crack wasn't that bad. Now, 9 weeks on, after endless phonecalls, faffing and chasing about, I still haven't seen my new windscreen. Aaargh. Don't know what to do
RedRobin
Phone the Customer Services/Complaints dept at Admiral and mention words like "ombudsmen" and I think you'll find they should jump through the hoops! Good Luck
S3Bangs
I am so in a rage this morning.. . Dan32
Call local VW dealer and check to see how long it will take them to get a new windscreen. When I had windscreen replaced, the company just ordered it thru the local dealers. Then call Admiral and start shouting.

S3Bangs
Matt.. A blast from the past eh . haven't seen you on the forums in ages.. must be a lurker now I suppose. Thanks for the info. Silly question, how do I use the info if I'm doing it through the insurance? Do I pay for it on my own and get a reimbursment from the insurance company or I ring up Admiral with the details or RAC even. By the way, for the first time, since I've been chasing them around, they rang me earlier to say. Sorry we lost your paper work, it does happen, however we've booked you in for Thursday for a replacement window...Duh!! I don't want a replacement you feckers. Oh and by the way, wait at home on Thursday. If the windscreen doesn't turn up it'll be arranged for another day. In all honesty, I'm just soooo angry and frustrated. Incompetent nincompoops!! Matt R
Yep still around! You will be better off insisting on a genuine screen as any MK4 Golf one will fit, but the R has a blue tint which I would suspect will not be available to them on the patent market, which means they WILL fit the wrong screen! I would speak to both insurance and windscreen supplier and see if they can organise genuine. We supply autoglass locally for screens if they can't source patent parts. Whats your excess? As i maybe able to do you a deal and get it fitted down here with our screen guy.

S3Bangs
Wahey!!.. After a wait of 10 weeks and 1 day, my new original VW windscreen was fitted today Had I not insisted they bring out the windscreen for me to see when they turned up, it probably wouldn't have been fitted. Their paperwork said they had a blue tinted windscreen in the van while mine was green tinted. They were ready to go back to base but I insisted on checking first as I had given them everything possible for the right match. Well it was green tinted, silly twats! Don't get your original windscreens done by the RAC I'll say... s
