B6 Glovebox jammed shut

Hi,

My glovebox on my A4 (B6) broke last night and now I can't get into it. It looks like something has snapped inside it rather as it was unlocked at the time. Unfortunately, I have loads or important stuff in there that I need to get out. Is there an easy way of getting the thing off as Audi are quoting me £58 just to look at it.

I've seen two bolts underneath that might be a start but is it an easy job? What else do I need to take off.

Thanks in advance!

Had this happen to me last year.... The tab on the end of the handle broke off.

Open the passenger door and pop off the trim panel on the end of the dash.

Now you can see the locking bar for the glovebox lid, press it and the glovebox will open.

That will have taken about a minute!!! Not bad for £58...

Now you can gain access to all 5 fixing bolts, 3 along the top edge of the glovebox and the 2 you've already spotted on the bottom.

Cheers Petrol Dave - I'll try it tonight when I get home. I think the plastic mechanism has actually snapped inside it as the lock still works. It just doesn't open when it's unlocked.

Lesson learnt though - never leave BOTH pairs of glasses in the glovebox - or passport, Security badge for work.....etc
