Atomic
The rubber trim on front of the rear drivers side door (essentially closing the gap between the front and rear door) has come loose due to the clip on it breaking near the top. Speaking to the local Audi garage has returned a negative response, they said they dont have it available (I suspect they are too lazy to check to be honest as it took them a whole 20 seconds to check). Does anyone know an alternative part source? I suspect the clips would do the trick as the rubber itself seems fine. Cheers, AG>

jettadeluxe
Ooh, thats poked me in the side with a stick, since I have the same problem but just lived with it. Please let me know how you get on!
Atomic
I cant live with it for many reasons... #1 I want to sell the car and #2 It rattles, #3 each time I get out of the car in a restricted space (daily!) it catches and gets worse... #4 It looks stupid #5 It definitely reduces wind noise. Atomic
It's taken 8 months approx to negotiate a deal with my employer... I dont feel so lucky at the moment lol just knackered. I'm very confused by their car choices though... big engines low speed limit. Best you see apart from a few huge highways is 90kph (60mph...) Atomic
Still toying with the idea of keeping the A8. To buy the same as I have here would cost around 12-15k... the upper end being near double it's UK value.
NickGUK
how much would it cost to ship the 8 over then...just interested.. been thinking of emigrating for a while.....this country is dying rapidly and i don't want to be here in 20 years... Atomic
£1500 to ship the car... less than than had previously been mentioned and it includes import costs. New Ausy import rules state that you need to demonstrate 12 months usage of the car though... ironically I'd have had mine for 11 months by the time it's shipped. I'm very tempted as the equiv cost for an A8 is almost double for the same age etc. out there, albeit I would have to worry about it being an import and getting it serviced and re-registered. Atomic
Solved the trim problem by buying some little clips from Halfrauds. Thry are described as 'Trim Panel Rivets'. Essentially plastic inserts which I placed in front of the rubber trim, through the rubber and into the holes in the rear door. And then screwed in the fastener through the original clip which has a hole where the original fastener was and into the insert. I had to enlarge the hole in the original clip slightly with a braddle but now it looks much better If you know what you're looking for you can see the replacement but it's more than passable and I dont get a rattle in my right ear when driving and it doesnt catch when I get in/out at car parks. I'll post a piccy of the clips if anyone wants... AG> [edit] Clip part number is HFX364.
