steelwind101
Hi Guys here is my 106, muched loved and looked after but was swiped by a red bus the other week and lost the mirror. The garage feared the paintwork might be damaged while it was with them so they decided to cover the car with carpet. As a result its pretty swirled, esp. around the back bumper lip. However, thats really no match for FK1's 2180 Ultra Seal topped with FK1 Pink Wax. It is stunningly wet and these pics are unedited, just resized, its even wetter in real life. Enjoy See the sun lighting some of the swirlmarks in this pic. I have 4OZ of slightly abrasive FK1 glaze. I couldent get it to work out so if anyone is intreasted in swapping and used mini bottle give me a shout. Geoff
bpsmith
Certainly looks nice and glossy but would have preferred to see more of the car rather than numerous ever so slightly different pics of the same part?
steelwind101
Hubcaps are wearing CG Spray wax and Sealant, tyres BnB and the windows AG glass polish.
steelwind101
Hi Ben, Was done yesterday and the rest of the car is yellow!! So its just the back and the offside for now. I will give it another coat this weekend and pull it out in the road for full on shots!! But also, being a solid colour there is no metalic pop to see just green when its the sun side. bpsmith
Hi Geoff, Just jerking your chain fella! Certainly looking good so far and looking forward to seeing the rest of it... Never seen trims quite so shiny as those for sure!
rhyds
Fantastic results there! Slightly OT: but is peugeot paint a bit on the soft side?
steelwind101
Opps, i see now the three in the middle are almost the same!! The Peugeot paint is medium i would say, you can easily correct it with the SSR line. I think the lip is now in repairble only improvable. I love its big flat panels but they are targets in the car park for other doors. Will get more shots after coat 2 of Pink wax. Geoff
rhyds
Just thought I'd ask, having mates who've had problems with scratches from people writing in the dirt on their pug bonnets
steelwind101
RHYDS, No problem, providing they havent gone through to the primer ScratchX should work out alright on there Pugs, it does on mine. Geoff
rhyds
I've learnt that from past experience, had to go over my ex-gf's bonnet a few times with some rubbing compound in the end!
wantmygti
Geoff, would scratch x be a good route of attack on swirls for those of us without a pc?
steelwind101
Hi GTI It really depends, do you have a new GTi?? The Vag paint found on Audis and VW's is very tough which makes it hard to correct by hand. You might want to just consider hiding the swirls marks or looking at something like Einsett Paintwork Polish or 4 Star Swirl remove but to be honest its always an up hill struggle. Fords, Peugeot etc. have paint which isnt as hard German paint. Hondas have a paint so soft that you have to take care to avoid micormarring on the solid colours even with lighter polishes!! wantmygti
Geoff Yeah she is only 6 weeks old but being dark blue there are a few swirls on the bonnet. Also, when i had stone chip film applied I'm fairly sure they were less than careful when washing the bonnet down. Just want to improve it a bit, might try the scratch x stuff and see how it goes. steelwind101
Hi, You might well have more luck if there just light and you can target them with the scratchX. If you apply with a foam applicator drop the ScratchX on top of one part not in the middle. Then when you apply pressure with your fingers and works out much better, use 3 applications on a small area reducing the amount of scratchX used every time.
