Exchange 2003 recipient policy

Just trying to setup Exchange 2003 as part of an SBS2003 install. I've managed to get the various different domain names we use configured as part of the recipient policy, so when a user is added they get an email address for each of our domains. But, how do I setup the policy? to create the email addresses in a firstname.surname format?

I thought it was done in the same place but maybe not on Exchange 2003.

Dave - a pain in the ar5e error to locate unfortunately. It's a general comms failure. I've seen it on a fair few clients with various causes.

So, how do we isolate? Well the main way is to isolate whether it's machine or user specific. On the machine you're having the problem with set up another Outlook profile with a different mailbox.

If you still get the error then it's specific to that m/c.

Next step, if you can, swap the network cables with a working m/c.

If you STILL get the error then it HAS to be something comms related on that m/c. If you don't, you know it's the hub/router/switch.

Try the above and post up the results - should be able to work it out from there 169144-ok.gif

Bizarrely I've found this to be caused by certain Network cards having calculated MTUs (don't worry tongue.gif ) rather than hard-set ethernet ones confused.gif

Anyway, post up the results and we'll see.

err, not quite.

I have the same mail set up at work as at home. Exactly the same 5 mail boxes via outlook on both machines. So i pick up my mail 50% at work and 50% at home.

I get the same message about that pop3 mailbox at my home computer and my work computer. 169144-ok.gif
