jamieca
Was out on a run tonight to pick someone up from the airport and as I aint been on the motorway for a while I've noticed a juddering from the engine as I try to accelerate from 3gear and upwards. Almost as if it is hesitating a bit. Putting my foot flat to the floor helps a bit but it's still there. Car was in for a service 3 weeks ago and mechanic said I had a coil or spark plug stuck in so he had to force it which snapped the coil. Said he fixed it up but waiting for coils to come in to get it replaced. Could this be the problem? A misfiring cylinder? The car is fine in 1st and 2nd but anything higher is juddering up to about 4k revs. Any help would be great thanks Oh MK IV 2003

Check with the dealer if it has had the 6463 update (VW's own remap) If not then get it put on as this was developed to specfically cure this particular problem. Worked a treat for mine. It was free under warranty but i suppose you will be out of that by now
Mook
It's very unlikely the 6463 update hasn't been applied to your car. There's a strong possibility it could be the MAF sensor - a common problem on the R32. It won't have been picked up when it was serviced as it's an electronic component that fails. deathchurch
I have this kind of problem on mine, when I had my 40k service they said all the coil packs would need replacing, and that until then I would suffer juddering and misfires. They are on order but take about a month to get here as there are shortages.
Mook
Also a possibility Coil pack failure is, however, normally noticeable throughout the rev range. I've got four spares, but not, sorry, they're not available for sale.

jamieca
Yeah been told about the shortage of coil packs too. Will try to give them a phone soon as get it sorted. Will see if they can check for 6463 at first I thought it was that but it's getting worse now so coils seem likely.
