Eat just a little bit less at every meal. Do you really need that extra burger, few chips etc. and it will make a difference straight away. Just ask youself at every meal do I really need all of that, get a kick out of feeling a little empty rather than full.

Chew your food a bit more and pause whilst eating rather than throwing it down your neck.

And walk into UNI rather than using the car all the time or walk when you go shopping, get 20 mins in a day if you can. If you do this alone you will notice at least no more expansion and maybe a little shrinkage. 169144-ok.gif

I've not drunk any alcohol since Jan 1st. I've also been more sensible with food. I'm not having the mixed grill with onion rings and chips etc but more healthy selections.

I'm not starving myself and I've definately not done any more exercise.

However I have lost 2st3lbs (around 14kg) so far.

I'll be back on the beer on 1st May but at a more sensible rate. i.e. I won't drink at home as much as I did. I didn't have a drink problem or anything like that but it gets to become as easy habit to have a pint or two each night.

The hardest thing is the grief you get from people when you say you're not drinking. I'd hate to be someone who never drinks as they must get this crap all the time.

Lately, my average day consists of a banana in the morning, a bowl of weetabix with various seeds, nuts and dried cranberries chucked on top for lunch, then a proper dinner in the evening. The weetabix at lunch time fills me up nicely so there's no snacking in between.

I'm shaping up alright. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks for the advice, I plan to walk a lot more now the weather's brightened up, I'm going out tonight but I'm designated driver, so no beer for me.

The eating slower thing could work for me, I'm known for polishing off a meal in a right hurry.

AS you guys know I'm only 5ft 5" and am 12 stone. On the BMI chart that puts me as overweight, but i've always been quite stocky so i think it's a fair weight for me.

In my early years and up until around 30 i could eat what-ever i fancied and was always like a butchers dog.. I did a lot of gym work when i was younger.. but when i got to thirty the weight didn't shift so easily.

So nowadays it's breakfast (weetabix x2), and sandwich for lunch (tuna or ham) and a full meal in the evening. Fill the day with drinks of water and you're sorted.

Did you realise that research has shown that a large number of the population are dehydrated and this dehydration/thirst is thought to send out a hunger signal in some people, so they eat instead of drink. When you feel hungry between meals, why not try a soft drink (not coke!) to quell that pang! 169144-ok.gif

Stand next to lots of people who are lardier than you and you will miraculously be as thin as a rake grin.gif

I'm sure there are few people on here who would do the job - myself certainly being one of them (heavier than a lot of rugby prop these days, even though I don't look THAT big frown.gif).

Seriously, drink plenty of water, lay off the ale until after exams (I'm sure you're doing that anyway wink.gif), eat more fresh fruit & veg and fewer carbs and go swimming 2 or 3 times a week (no stress on the body but great exercise and a break from studying).

Last time I did all that little lot I lost 2 1/2 stone in 3 months and was nearly thin! (although I was 10 years younger)

Apply to the insomniac, schizophrenic, omnipotent, megalomaniacal MrMe (or is that Miss Marple) for a role as a minion in his (her?) now rapidly maturing quest for global domination. I'm sure his grand plans and short timeframes will have you sweating the kilos off those pudgy buttcheeks.gif in no time. grin.gif

Seriously though - drink LOTS of water - I try to drink at least a litre a night after dinner, and cheat by adding a small amount of fruit juice to make it more palatable. It cuts the hunger signals tremendously, and along with a balanced diet and a modicum of exercise you'll start to see changes over a period of weeks.

Cutting back (substantially) on food and snacks for several weeks, particularly complex carbohydrates and foods with high fat and sugar content; while upping your levels of physical activity will also help start kicking your metabolic rate up to a higher level... The trick is not to starve yourself, and after about 6 weeks, start eating more (of the right) food and keep up the exercise regime. You'll find the weight drops away.
