Ritey
So like a lot on TSN I'm betting I spend a fair amount of time sat down working on a computer. At my 9-5 work my chair isn't too bad really but my office chair I'm guessing isn't that great as recently I've started getting really bad neck pains after working in the evening. Can anyone recommend an office chair company that gives decent support without costing the earth?
Dave
Have a look here I have a chair very similar to the one on offer and it gives good support.

drpellypo
Re the expensive chairs, a friend of mine who's a physio says they are a waste of money! She advised (read - nagged) me to simply sit up straight and as long as I had lumbar support and arms on the chair, I'd be fine. I must say since I've stopped slouching, my back/neck pain has almost gone. Sounds obvious, but you can easily have a shocking posture without realising. It doesn't have to be mega slouching. Philbes
REf. Dave's recommendation. Be careful with that company. I bought a chair from them - it was good value for money, delivered promptly and no problems since. However, my employer has had terrible problems with delivery promises broken, wrong deliveries, orders taken and credit card charged and then told items were discontinued. Dave
Interesting.. never used them myself.. but good feedback. A good chair is worth it's weight in gold, certainly if you spend a lot of hours in one, but posture is also so important as mentioned above. Mort
I had this for years.... then I realised I was hunched over a laptop and it was causing strain on my neck and upper back. Make sure the middle of the screen you are looking at is at the same level as your eyes or slightly higher.... this will force you to keep your head up. If you have a laptop.... get a proper screen. zerologic
My employer has installed one of these for me I'm waiting for an op on a prolapsed disc and this desk is great, it allows electronic adjustment of both levels to get the keyboard and monitor height just right, you could work sitting on the floor if you wanted. Or, as i often do, raise it right up to work standing if i get too much pain sitting down! It is a superb bit of kit, has pre-sets for the height for if you have a number of users. I know its not the kind of thing that will help you out, but my point is.. in a round about kind of way that you can get by with a non-expensive chair as long as you sort out your posture and monitor and height / placement. As mentioned above. Oh and regular breaks / stand up and stretch and walk about a bit really helps.
