wrong reg on ticket

Some advise needed please.........A mate's brother was driving his dad's car and was stopped by cops in a CCTV type van for going "fast" round a roundabout,however they issued him with a ticket (not sure if it was a producer) but they have put the wrong registration on it X****** instead of W******, does he stand a chance of getting away with it. Thanks

As far as I'm aware, there's no offence of "driving fast" so that's that out of the window.

If the reg is incorrect then I'd suspect the ticket is invalid.

Hi, if there's just a single character wrong and the model type and colour is correct, along with the driver details, it just counts as a clerical error and the ticket can stand.

What might cause more problems is if the insurance/MOT gets checked and the registration doesn't match.

He won't have been given a ticket for that. It is more than likely a HO/RT1. Whether or not there is a mistake, if he fails to produce his docs in time, he will end up in court.

Yes, indeed if it's just one letter and all other details are correct, I do believe it's still valid. However, if it's a producer, it's valid whatever. He will be reported for the offence of not producing his docs within seven days.
