OliFH
Okay - I know this has been done to death on here but... Having had a new steering rack, and parts of the suspension replaced, I still have this bloody groaning noise under full lock The stealers don't know what else to do - can anyone help? Marcus I know you reckon this problem is down to the brakes - are you in London this weekend so maybe you could let me know what you think in return for a ? Car also had a new rim on the back left after my old man thought it would be a good idea to curb it last weekend - when I got it back the tyre pressure warning light was on. Checked the pressures which were a bit out, nothing to drastic, and corrected them. Light is still on though - called the garage who just suggested resetting it. Anyone know how to do this? I reckon they've sh4gged the sensor when they changed the wheel - we will see. As a nice final touch they cleaned the car before parking it under a tree. Cue half an hour last night of cleaning all the fcuking bird off it - THANKS GUYS! Any help much appreciated as always
petsy
to reset just keep pressing the tpms button next to the esp one till you get an audible bong.
MajorH
Beat me to its Petsy, on the same subject mines in again today for the same problems possibly replacement rack no 2 in 6,000 miles.I feel a buy back coming on. My previous car a Landrover Disco3 had serious electrical issues and Landrover offered a free upgrade from SE to HSE spec after 3 months of problems, methinks VAG aint going to be that generous. BrakeSnake
I'd say so. Certainly won't do any harm, if just to say you've logged a complaint and want something doing about it.

MajorH
Im going to now Oli, having just spoken with the service manager at Lookers Darlington, who received the following advice from VW technical, and I quote "put it up on the ramp, slacken everything off, and tightening it back up again". I presume they mean strut tops, arbs, and then the obligatory 20 mile test drive redlining in at least 1st and 2nd. No to worry we've a 1.4 Golf courtesy car
OliFH
that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that with VW 'technical' I am in such safe hands

MajorH
Its gets better, went to the dealers to collect today. Service receptionist says, it wont be ready till Monday the chief tech has Saturdays off and didnt have chance to check it today. I arrived at 5.15 to collect it!. Went through roof, and suprise, suprise, Mr Chief tech is in first thing in the Morning. Good to see the customer is king.
D1MAC
Serious Q - Don't you chaps get a bit p*ssed off with this standard of service & elements of unreliability having shelled out a decent wedge? I was tempted by an R32 but ultimately didn't want to spend that kind of cash & didn't like the dealer attitudes and when I peruse this slice of the forum it often seems like I've missed out on some BMW pricng but Vauxhall (or possibly even lower) levels of service/reliability and it puts me off for the future. mjag2
My R32 has that infernal steering / brake pad / who knows squeeling problem which has yet to go away at 1000 kms (still too early I guess). I had a rattle in the main dash because a clip was broken + a rattle in the driver side door due to a loose wire (both promptly sorted out by the dealer). Since I have Sat-Nav, my 6 disc changer doesn't work (powers up, then dies) and now the dealer is replacing it under warranty next week. Thats about it. The car runs fine and it goes. I'm considering purchasing a 325i or a IS250 Sports if the steering / brake pad problem doesn't go away.
MajorH
Dealer still has the car, problem with the wheel alignment equipment allegedly, maybe Mr Chief tech couldnt be arsed coming in Saturday morning. Decision made Im getting rid, dont know what to change to though.7 months old and 12 days in the dealers just aint good enough in my opinion. Yahoo
[ QUOTE ] Decision made Im getting rid, dont know what to change to though. [/ QUOTE ] 335i M sport? Go through drive the deal and pick a standard one up for under £30 000. That's 13% discount and all dealings are with a main dealer. 300+ bhp, 4 doors, better mpg than an R32, sweet straight 6 and with 13% discount low residuals over 3 years. MajorH
I was following an unmarked 330d police car yesterday and while I was kind of considering that, Id forgotten about the 335. Its just a real shame though because the R has so much going for it, visited an Audi dealer today to look at the S3, and they mentioned rack problems with A3, as its the same platform for both cars shouldnt really be that suprised I guess.
