skink
Hi, long time lurker, first time poster... I went to pick up my shadow blue GTI today and ended up refusing to accept it. The problems I found were: - large scratch/mark (thumb nail size) on front lower bumper - badly marked (look like permanent finger marks) and slightly rippled rubber seals around outside of the doors (particularly the top) - a few small white spots on bonnet Anyone else had similar problems? Can they fix these issues perfectly (eg touching up front bumper so it can't be noticed)? Some other observations/questions that came up while inspecting: I bought the integrated bluetooth carkit and noticed today that the microphone is not fully integrated. It pops out of the dash below the dials and clicks on to a bit of plastic stuck on the ledge. Is this really how the microphone is installed??? I pushed the phone button and nothing appeared to happen (with accessories on), how do you configure this? How many kilometres/miles have people seen on the ODO on pickup? The tinting on the hatch door and small back section of the back doors didn't appear to be cut to the edge. The dealer claimed it was due to the visible spots/ripples around the edge of these windows (meant to be there) and not wanting to damage rear demister. Have others experienced the same thing? The duco had some very fine circular polishing/cleaning marks too. I know this ends up happening anyway but what about new from the dealer? Didn't get MP3 compatible (standard) CD player either, maybe these haven't reached Australia yet. On the positive side the interior looked find and the alloys appeared to be perfect. I know most of these things (apart from the large mark) are fairly minor and will happen with wear and tear anyway but I wanted to know what others thought. Do the external rubber door seals age quickly/mark easily? Any suggestions? Feel a bit better now that's off my chest, interested in your feedback. Thanks. jon79f
Skink, Sad to hear about your experience - sounds like you really went over the car with a fine tooth comb. TBH I didn't go over as closely, as I figured I would put some marks on the paint pretty quickly. I did however get the car polished 3 months after I purchased it to removed swirl marks created by the dealer. Not sure about the bluetooth - I dont have the option - are you sure it was VW fitted? If so I would think it should look integrated. Aus does not have the MP3 compatible stereo yet - I can confirm that. I could not imagine refusing to take delivery - after 4 months of waiting there would be no way I could have walked away. Hope you enjoy your new wheels eventually - Shadow Blue is the nicest colour I reckon (little bit biased though).
wantmygti
I didn't think VW did a blue tooth kit yet, hence they may of employed someone to fit one??
